Thieves

My wife and I stayed for one night. When we checked out we overlooked and left a large bag of Yankee Candles in the room, $76.00 worth of candles. We realized this when we were unpacking at home, 3 hours away. I immediately called the hotel and notified them knowing they could be shipped to us. We told them the exact location on the floor where they were left. The desk person said we will check but no one has turned anything in from the room we stayed. After calling back numerous times to the hotel and the owner at his residense no one had seen them. They said keep checking your car. The owner's wife was very rude on the phone and didn't care about the customer service aspect. Just, "How did you get this number", "Don't ever call here again".
I filed a complaint with the BBB.
I realize they are not responsible for any valuables left in the room per hotel policy, All I wanted was to be reimbursed the money of the candles.
I know they found them. And probably split them up between the staff and are burning them as we speak in their homes.
If I owned the hotel I would have honest caring employees that were well versed in excellent customer service and cared for and about repeat customers. After all we the customers keep them in business. The staff found the candles and kept them, instead of doing the right thing which would have been, found the candles, looked up who had stayed in the room, called the person, and arranged to have them shipped to the owner. You know the HONEST way of doing business. They put on a good front but prey on what they can find when HONEST people leave.
Lesson learned. I will not nor will anyone I know ever stay at this uncaring, dishonest, unprofessional dump!
