Never Again!
By ,
After traveling fairly extensively throughout the world, (many times with tour groups), I can say without hesitation that this hotel is one I will never again stay in. The bellhop delivered luggage to our room about 30 minutes after my husband and I arrived while on a cruisetour. Unfortunately the bellhop DIDN'T BOTHER TO KNOCK ON OUR DOOR FIRST before just barging right in to our room. The next morning, at 9:00, the maid DID THE SAME THING. Just barged right in without knocking -- we couldn't believe it had happened twice. (Checkout time is noon, so no excuses for her!) Then, as part of the cruisetour, we were told to leave our luggage outside our hotel room door upon checkout, and the hotel would store it for the day until our evening flight out of Anchorage. We observed multiple rooms with luggage sitting outside them, but no bellhop in sight, so we took our own luggage to the desk where someone was organizing the luggage storage. When I told them we had brought our luggage to be stored until our departure later this evening, I was chastized for bringing it down myself. (I had not offered any comments about the bellhop's behavior the night before, or our concern about unattended luggage at this point. Frankly, I didn't want to complain and have their staff retaliate while our bags were stored at the hotel.) If that wasn't enough, the guy in charge had our pick up time wrong for our transfer to the airport, but he actually began to argue with me that his information was right -- despite my telling him when our flight was --- which clearly showed his information was incorrect. The final straw was that a fellow cruisetour member's luggage was sent to the airport too early by the hotel staff. As a result, it was unloaded by the transfer bus driver and left on the curb at the airport UNATTENDED. If my husband and I had not noticed after the bus pulled away, who knows if the owners would have ever seen the luggage again! And we all know what unattended luggage at an airport can lead to -- havoc! When I asked for a comment card to fill out at the front desk when we departed the hotel, I was told someone had taken all the cards. Maybe too many complaints??? Avoid this place if you can. ETET, 2010

Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty!
By ,
From check in to check out my stay was exceptional. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The food in the dining room was exactly what I wanted, and the room service was also excellent and delivered quickly. Every time I walked through the lobby I was greeted with a friendly hello and was helped across the icy street by a very nice valet. For the manager I can sing no higher praise, she is who I’d want working for me. I have and will continue to recommended the Marriott to all my friends and associates.

room next to the ice/coke machine
By ,
We stayed in the downtown Anchorage Marriott at the end of our Alaska cruise/landtour on June 25, 2008. Our room was next to the ice/coke machine room. We woke up several times during the night because of the awful noise the machines made. When I complained to the reception desk the next morning, the manger in charge told me that I was the first client who complained. This is probably the standard answer they giuve to all their clients who complain about the noise. The manager did not offer any apologizes, nor that she offer any compensation of any kind for a bad night. The message is clear: if you want a quiet sleep in the downtown Marriott insist on having a room as far away from the icemachines as possible. After I got the cold shoulder from the manager in charge, I will not stay in any Marriott.

AVOID downtown Marriot -`pathetic.
By ,
I travel extensively all over the world and THIS MARRIOT stinks! For their prices one would expect parking and internet! Oh no! If the very limited valet parking is full - Here you have to pay for AND find your own parking in the city somewhere and walk for badly lit street blocks at night back to the hotel - not a good idea if you are single. Then you have to be up at 6 am to move your vehicle - or get a ticket. You also have to pay for internet by the hour or day. The hotels movie channel and interactive system is bad. The staff on both occasions were unfriendly, inexperienced and/ or downrigt hostile. The rooms were sub-par to all the other in same price class hotels in downtown Anchorage. Avoid at all cost - If it is the only place available in Anchorage for the night - You'll know why!!!

Sooper
By ,
I have been to this resturant several times before. The bread is very good. Not a place for people alergic to peanuts. There are peanuts all over the place. The chicken and steak are good. If it is your birthday ask about the Yee Haw! This will be a good family dinner. Good place for kids too.

Nice, but pricey
I have stayed here on a couple of occasions and been impressed with it. The best feature is the floor to ceiling windows for excellent views of the city. Also, the location downtown makes it great to walk to restaurants or do business. The only drawback is that the rooms do get pricey in the peak summer season. Try the Dimond Center Hotel if you don't need to be right downtown.

Excellent hotel
By ,
Loved the Marriott, it was so beautiful in the lobby, and the rooms were nice and clean. close walking distance to restaurants, they tell you where they are located. The area around the hotel is a little scary sometimes, hobos are looking for a handout. Close to the waterside, and the shops. Great lobby shop for souveniers.
