Good Location - Bad Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/07
We've stayed in hotels and motels throughout the United States and around the world. Holiday Inn Express motels are usually a good value, sadly the one in Winnie, TX isn't.
We required two connecting rooms (myself, my wife, my daughter and small granddaughter). I received confirmation via phone that we could get such a configuration. We arrived to discover that both rooms had recently been painted. The heavy paint smell was made an even a greater problem in that my wife and daughter suffer from respitory difficulties. I returned to the front desk with my tale of woe and was met with near indifference. Finally, I was shown a two bedroom suite. While not freshly painted, the smell was such that we had to acquire a large fan and leave the doors open for some period. Had it not been so late and the weather so bad, we would surely have left.
The rooms were musty and moldy.
Good News? Some. The rooms were generally neat and clean, thanks to the housekeeping staff. Further, the Continental Breakfast was actually very good for a moderately price motel. Accolades to the help, however, not any for the management personnel. We'll give Winnie a pass next time.
