Great Stay for a Great Value
By Erick, 10/19/06
After looking around for a hotel in which to spend a weekend in the NYC, I came across Hotel 57. Although I never found the hotel on any of thewebsites, I read about it on a newspaper and went to the website. To my surprise and gratituted, the hotel was advertising a $199 a night weekend package. The pictures on the website, displayed a very chic hotel. I thought to myself, this is to good to be true. Fortunately, when we arrived, the room was ready before the scheduled check-in time. We checked in with no obstacles and went into our room. The room looked exactly like what was advertised on the website. Although it was a but small, that was not a problem, because we only used our hotel to sleep. The hotel was very near a subway station, which was out gateway to the City. In all the hotel was great and we had an excellent time.

Can't beat the location and price
By Marti, 2/7/06
For me the action in NYC is outside the hotel room. The rooms are tiny...so what. The bathrooms and showers are across the hall but usually available. All I need in the Big Apple is a clean place to lay my head down after a full day. If only there were more such hotels!

two worlds apart
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/05
I stayed with a large group of friends here. Half where in the hotel and the rest in the hostel. I think the problem to start with is the miss communication or dishonesty not sure which, about what type of room you will be getting. One group under the impression they were getting a hotel room was put into a hostel room(however they rectifyed that) The Hotel rooms where clean and perfect for the 8 or so people who stayed in it. (two queen beds)nice decore, decent bathrooms. The hostel rooms were a little different. Cleanish, but incredably hot for the end of summer, bathroom attached to our room (4 bunk beds we had 6 in the room)the bathroom wasn't very clean and the drains were incredably slow. The biggest Pro for this place is the location absolutly brilliant!

a good hotel undergoing renovations
By eitans, 7/24/05
I stayed at Hotel 57 for a few days when my buddy kicked me out of his apartment, and it turned out to be a good experience. i stayed in one of their "recently renovated" rooms and i honestly felt like a king. housekeepers made my room look brand new every morning, flat screen tvs, nice bar downstairs, good toilets, everything was real nice. the only problem is that the hotel was doing construction during the days and it got kind of dirty at times. also, i spoke to some guests who were staying in the "hostel style" rooms and they were pretty unhappy. the rooms stank, there were no towels, and a couple other guests neglected to flush...oh the humanity! location, by the way, cant get any better.

Cant think of anything positive to say
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/05
Beside the location, I cant think of much good to say. I arrived after 3pm to find that the room is not ready. While the pictures shows a nice cosy room, the reality is other wise. I was show a room with no windows, and I only had a backdoor to open for ventilation. I had to keep it open through the night, as it was hot! The room smeels of urine and there were fleas all over the place. The shower and basin was clogged. There seem to be some nice rooms in othert levels, but this place is simply too risky. Aviod at all cost!

Superb deal
By Francisco, 6/2/05
Sleekly designed and fun to boot. The rooms are small but a good deal for a midtown hotel. Great bar with outdoor balcony seating so you can people watch.

Great inexpensive hotel in NYC!
By RunningJock, 5/11/05
This small independant hotel in New York City was a great find for myself and my friend. The rates are wicked good for travelers on a tight budget or in need of a hotel on short notice. The location is in walking distance from the subway which helps out also. There is bell service at the front door who are able to help with calling taxis and helping with luggage. The front entrance and front desk are really welcoming with a modern/bright look to them. Tourists traveling to NYC are rarely in the hotel rooms and this hotel is just for that. This hotel provides a bed, tv, common bathrooms and showers, and great views of the city. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends traveling to NYC!

Donot inhabit the Habitat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/7/05
When we entered our room we couldn't believe we were to spend 5 days in such a small, dirty, smelly, basic room with no bathroom. When we inspected the shared ablution area the unflushed toilet was the last straw. We had to pay extra for an upgrade to an equally small, dirty, smelly room but with a bathroom. There was insuffient bedding for December conditions until more was requested. There was nothing between the sheet and the mattress and the windows did not open for fresh air(really needed)They even had the audacity to charge for a room we were not in, a month after we left the country. Never again!!

Going back, good neigboorhood
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/05
I stayed there alone two years ago. I remember that my room was clean and small with a TV in the room. The bath was not in the room but next door and clean. The lobi has a nice Lounge cafe where you can have a coctail at night. At the opposite of the street you can see a film, and you have several restaurant in the neighboorhood to have your breakfast or dinner. So I wouldn't recommand it if you go in couple, the level of service is quite low. But if you're on a budget and alone it's OK I am going back, since otherwise I have to pay double to be in this nice neighboorhood
