The Old Bank Hotel, Oxford

Perfect location in city centre and with free car parking! Beautifully prepared food in Quod Brasserie and nicely served. Even the room was clean and a bit 'hip-hotel' with lots of modern art. We loved the marble top double basin and had a great bath with chilled wine from the mini bar. But, when we went to bed, it was like lying on a trampoline, and at 8.50am we couldn't find any hot water for our shower. The very smooth manageress made out she had been up at 6am in the boiler room in her wellies fixing the boiler - maybe it was true; she did give us a reduction. The place was a bit pretentious, staff superior - on balance, for the money, we should have done The Randolf.
