It's Like Home

This is a great extended stay hotel, and I should know because I stayed there for an entire year, and liked it so much I went back several times after. The suites are either studio, one bedroom (my favorite) or two bedroom, all with full galley kitchens, including a full size fridge. The rooms were extensively renovated about a year and a half ago, so the furniture is fairly new and comfortable, and the bed is standard Marriott - all dressed up, though the mattress is not pillow top. Housekeeping does an excellent job of keeping the rooms clean. Wfi and cable TV good - except the TVs are kind of small. The key to this place is that it's standard. All the furnishings and decor are nice but not 5 star. In fact, the rooms leave themselves open for a bit of self decoration, which many people do. This is practical, clean, and home-style. It's also pet friendly - and with a heart. During Katrina, the staff went out of their way to welcome the evacuees, including any and all pets. I heard the manager even waived the pet cleaning fee for those who couldn't afford it. Some notes: the wheelchair acessible rooms do not have ovens. Your fellow residents are a pretty decent crowd on the whole - this is a favorite contract hotel for the military, federal agencies, police departments, and travelling nursing agencies. When I was there we sort of became our own little community, right down to the occasional rowdy party at the pool.
