New management, looking forward to next year

My wife and two kids (5 months and 2 years) and I had booked three nights at a lodge that turned out to be an awful experience. I frantically called around looking for a room at a "regular" hotel after the first night and these people had a room and were very pleasant and reassuring despite it being the weekend of Bud Bash (avoid going to houghton lake the weekend of bud bash by the way - our mistake). From the looks of things, this hotel is under new management and they are doing everything they can to make it a better hotel. We will be back next year for sure. Thanks guys! Especially the younger day time manager, she was amazing.

it had an odor, the food was stale. The hotel and motel cater to bud bash. they have let all of them run down.

Would stay again

I've stayed at this place 6 times and I would go back. The only thing that I didn't like was the jacuzzi it was on the yellowish, green side. I did tell the desk clerk and she said that she wasn't aware of it. I wouldn't use a public jacuzzi any way. The rooms are clean and the breakfast isn't bad, I do prefer a hot breakfast so I didn't always take advantage of it. I will stay there again.

A satisfactory stay

Stayed for 5 nights on business. Room was fine, clean, and Wireless Internet worked fine. Breakfast is not so good. Coffee is decent, but the food selection and quality leave a lot to be desired. Signature cinammon rolls are just awful. Cream cheese for bagels comes from a container shared with other guests, which is unacceptable to me. All in all, the hotel was fine. Skip the hotel's free breakfast. Big Boy down the road is a much better choice for a morning meal, even though it's not free.

Great value

We stayed here in January 08 and my family and I had a fabulous time. The staff was excellent, the breakfast was good, the pool was the nicest I've ever seen at a hotel. We'll be back!

Fairly clean and comfortable hotel. A very basic continental breakfast was included. All in all, a reasonably good value for the priceline price. Other reviewers mentioned "yacky" jacuzzi -- and it did look kind of unkempt and gummy. The pool looked OK, but we did not use either facility

when i made the reservation in that hotel i read that the hotel is near the lake but i found the hotelit is far from the houghton lake where pepole want to swim,and enjoy,the lake is too poor need more effort to be nice and the beach need more works to be clean , and the hotel was good but the price it is too much for the location and for the room ....because of that we went to mackinaw island because we didnot find any thing to do in houghton lake.we had a lot of fun in mackinaw island. any way yahoo travel it is the best website for ever always i made my travels throw it.

We won't go back

Tub area was not cleaned. An empty shampoo bottle and used soap was on the shelf in the shower and soap scum in the tub. One light was burned out, the top lock was broke and when I tried to iron my blouse the next morning the iron left a black spot where it touched my blouse. Something black was melted to the bottom of the iron. Manager was not available for discount as she had not shown up for work yet,almost 2 hours after she was due. She was supposed to contact me but never did. Linda Lambertson

Disappointment

We haved stayed at this hotel before, so we knew what to expect. We were disappointed that the pool/hot tub area was closed. We had looked forward to relaxing in the hot tub after a day of travel. When we complained the clerk said, "Sorry, but you wouldn't want to get in there anyway. It's gross." Well, needless to say, that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the the hotel in general. It also doesn't make you want to rush right back the next time you need a room in that city. There was no offer of a discount or refund at all.
