You need to stay here!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/09
I travel with my sales job and I see the good, the bad and the ugly. I found this hotel several years ago and I don't stay anywhere else! Anytime I need a thing they take care of it and always have a great attitude! The staff has many years together at this location which makes a big difference and whether it is Dave, Paul or any other of the staff they are so obliging to take care of your every need. The reason I came back after my first visit was because of the quality and service of the staff. Of course the rooms are great, spacious and always clean. Breakfast is good and the breakfast staff are wonderful! The pool is nice, you can walk to Patriots Point or take the nature trail all the way to the harbor with a look out and what a view!! Most guests don't know about this. ( ask the staff about this) Finally, the walk and view from the bridge is awesome (don't forget to walk under the bridge and check the view out from down there.) Resturants you must try out are the Mustard Seed - Dinner is from $10 - $23, romantic and casual w/great daily specials and desserts Try the corn chowder with crab cake on top!! You must try the Boulevard Diner only 1/2 mile from the hotel. Same owner of the Mustard Seed but less expensive and very casual - Meat and three are great, plus the daily fresh fish and seafod are Super plus the same great desserts (the owner also owns an awesome bakery in downtown Mt. Pleasant. If you like to fish you can fish around many of the Islands - Sullivans, Isle of Palm, James and John Islands, Crabbing and Shrimping is great family fun as well. There are also two great County water park in season which are very affordable.

Excellent!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/08
The location was perfect for seeing both Patriots Point and downtown Charleston. They had a little mixup with the days--reservation was for wrong days but they made it right. Free hot breakfast was great. They had bottled water on ice for all of the hotel guests gratis. Hotel was clean and nicely furnished. I would definitely recommend this place!

The Good and The Bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/08
The room was spacious, clean and lovely, the bed was very comfy. The breakfast bar had good food but they were out of half and half for coffee, and whole milk did not get it for my husband. They also ran out of coffee for a short time. The lady over the breakfast bar was loud and obnoxious. Overall, it was a nice place and I would stay here again. The hotel was a little pricey.

Room to stretch just outside Charleston.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/08
The close proximity to the city of Charleston; an easy commute over Ravenel bridge. Lots of areas safe for walking/jogging by water. Golf course across the street. Water taxi to city in season. Shem Creek Bar & Grill (excellent) nearby for lunch/dinner. Breakfast was good but got boring. Good value. Will be building a water park near by in the future (families with kids take note).

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/07
Do not stay here!!! The bathrooms do not have exhausts and the windows do not open. The rooms do not get checked for cleanliness and odor and this is evident in the things previous guests have left behind and the smell left in the bathrooms. And the worst of all, the front desk person is very rude! She does not have the right attitude and was not accommodating at all. If you are planning for a wonderful trip, this hotel is definitely NOT for you.

We look forward to going back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/07
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The hotel rooms were large and clean and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast was superb!

OK place
By Steve, 02/22/07
This hotel was nice. It was very easy to find and within 5 minutes from the downtown area. Do not plan on the free buffet being very good. The eggs were more like yellow jello (gross) and the attendant was quite rude to my girlfriend and me. I would rather have saved money and stayed at a less expensive place and gone to a restaurant for breakfast. I made the reservation last minute and I was told it was for non-smoking and they said when I got there that all they had was a smoking room. All of our clothes smelled like ashtray by the time we left.

we will never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/07
To begin with the room had a very musty smell but seemed clean. The room was on the back of the hotel, when we made our reservations we requested a front room, and since we arrived early and no rooms seemed to be filled I am still not sure why we were given the back room. That night we pulled the sheets back to go to bed and there were two disgusting stains in the center of the bottom sheet. We immediately called the front desk and they said they would get us another room. The room available was not suitable for a handicapped person. We were already unpacked and ready for bed and we just wanted some clean sheets. They did offer to change the sheets for us. They threw the soiled sheets onto the floor along with the comforter and bedspread and walked all over them trying to hurry to put on the clean sheets. Rather than wait we thought we should change our own sheets. They began by bringing in two top sheets. Then they had to go back and get a fitted sheet. By now it was 10:30. We finally got our sheets changed by 11:00. We fully expected the desk staff to apologize about the stained sheets at check out and they didn’t. We will never stay at this hotel again. The staff did give us a $9.00 refund, which we felt was an insult considering all the inconvenience we had to go through.

Not nice
By Khloe, 08/02/06
This hotel was in a good location because we wanted to be close to the beach, and downtown Charleston. The rooms were clean for the most part. The bathroom was TERRIBLE! It looks like the original shower head brok, and they replaced it with a junky thing that sprayed water all over the floor. We would have asked to move, but we had an adjoining room with my mom. We only had one towel in our bathroom. I called down and they made ME come down to get more!!! They didn't even sweep our bathroom when they cleaned, and there was sand from the beach on the floor. The lady in charge of the buffet was rude, and should be told she needs to talk with more respect to the guests. I would have made a bigger deal complaining, but my mom was nice enough to plan our whole trip. I didn't want her to feel bad, so just dealt with it. The rooms were nice (not including the bathroom), and other than the terrible hotel our first trip to Charleston was GREAT. We checked out some better hotels to stay at on our next trip.

Our Stay
By not a bone head, 07/23/06
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The breakfast buffet was good, but made great by Britt, the happy and friendly hostess! Be sure to have a conversation with her, she makes you feel warm and welcome! We will definitley stay here again!
