Great Place along with Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/09
I liked this hotel because it located on the campus of OU and near the student dorms. They have improved this hotel quite a bit since I last stayed here in 2001 when it was somewhat dingy. The rooms are cleaner, the bathroom has been updated, a large LCD television in the living room, and most important the decorum. Back in 2001 they were pretty spartan or no decorations. Now they have spinkled the walls with various OU memberalia, giving it some character. I also like the hotel because it is cheap compare to other hotels in Norman, especially since you are getting a full kitchnette(refrig, microwave, modern toaster oven, and two oven tops). Add on to that two seperate bedrooms, a breakfast table and living room. You also get free breakast in the morning(cereal, muffin, juice). The only downside to the room is that they are a little darker than I like but better then back in 2001. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. Note: Almost impossible to get reservation during football weekends here. The comment about the guy who wrote about a robe missing from the room. I do not recall in the past or now ever getting anything like that at the hotel. I think he is confused with another hotel - this is not a luxurious hotel.

NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/09
They have you Initial that you would be responsible for paying for a robe if one is missing. They put you in a room with one robe and you have no way on questioning how many robes should be in the room. then when you check out about a two weeks later they charge you $90 fo robe. then when you call the management won't take your calls. return your calls. they will tell you house keeping said that there was only one robe in the room. Well of Course "house keeping would say that there was only one robe when we check in the room. I would advise people to be extreamly cautious when they go to this hotel. and if there is 1 robe in the room you need to let front desk know. I personal think this is a scam.

reminiscent of the dorms back in school!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/08
It incredibly cheap to stay here. It is by no means luxurious, but clean and the service people are very pleasant. The only real reason to stay here is that it is part of the OU campus. If you are going to a football or basketball game or some other event on campus then this may be the place for you because you will have easy access to everything on campus, including the Museums, stadium and arena.

going back after all....
By katherine, 11/12/07
The best thing is the location. The rooms were dark and old...the bathroom was small and rusty. I was a little 'afraid' to stay here at first, but soon realized I wouldn't be in my room all that much, except to sleep..and the sheets seemed clean and fresh, which is the most important thing to consider. The temperature in the room was very difficult to control....freezing in the dead of August ! But, all that said, I think I'm ready to book my next trip at the Sooner Hotel! :)

Great for what it does
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/07
Rating the Sooner Hotel is a bit difficult because you really have to rate it based on different standards than a vacation hotel. It is NOT the hotel you choose for a week of luxury, but it does fill an exceedingly under appreciated niche - the truly great bargain niche. I have no problem paying $200 for a night at a really nice hotel in the middle of the action, but often you just want a cheap room that is not nasty. Normally, for $51 you are afraid to undress with the lights on and don't want to put your bare feet on the carpet. The Sooner Hotel is NOT like that - because it is owned and operated by OU, it is set up like just about any other campus facility. That means it provides the service you need - clean rooms, helpful staff, close to campus (and away for Route 35!!), free continental breakfast - without anything fancy. Think of it like staying in a dorm room with the bed, sheets, and a few other simple amenities provided. While you don't get the fancy stuff, if it is important for you to find a true bargain - that is, combination of good price and safe, comfortable room - this is the place. For the price, it can not be beat in Norman or most places.

Love it.

Location is perfect. Campus pool is great. Discounted Golf at Jimmy Austin GC. Great service. We usually stay in the hotel which is fine, but this year we'll get a 2-br w/ kithen. Bi-annual lodgers.

Great place to stay while visiting OU!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/06
Great location because it is on the campus of Univeristy of Oklahoma. It is ideal if you are visiting the campus, attending a Sooner athletic event, or if you are visiting your student at OU.

Pick somewhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/16/05
This hotel is very old. The building used to be dorms a long time ago. You have no control over your heating and cooling in the room. The only good thing about it is that can stay on the University.
