Very Unhappy
By Khansoukhy, 03/08/08
I called the Hawthorn to block 10 rooms for the weekend of my wedding. I had a very hard time getting in touch with anyone or getting my calls returned. Once I did get the rooms blocked I was offered a discounted rate on the 10 rooms. I had my save the dates for my wedding made with a picture of the Hawthorn and their information for my guest to call to reserve their discounted rooms. When guest called to reserve, my name wasn't coming up. I called the Hawthorn and the employee never reserved my rooms for me, it is a busy weekend, so they will not honor the discounted rate. Now my guests and wedding party are scrambling to find rooms and are spread all over town. I called a manager he was sorry and was going to talk to the head manager and call me back. Once again no call. I am very upset by all of this and it has caused a lot of stress. Very bad customer service. As far as the Hawthorn we had always enjoyed staying there but no longer will.

We stay here often
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/07
We love the lobby and that the hotel welcomes animals.Rooms are clean, quiet and spacious. We usually get a 2 bedroom suite and stay with another couple. We really appreciate the hot breakfast and cocktail hour is great. The only cons would be the parking across the street not visible from the hotel and people who use the breakfast buffet as their own personal supermarket! People feel free to eat breakfast and then fill their hands and pockets with fruit, yogurt, bagels ... sometimes leaving the breakfast area looking barren. I understand that this must be difficult to control but maybe a discrete sign would help .

Best place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/07
When ever we visit the staff is always friendly and the rooms are very clean. We love to stay there when ever we are in the area which is several times a year.

My Stay by Agnes, age 10
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
Pros: When we checked in the room was really clean. We liked the comforters and the feather pillows. Butterscotch the cat was very cute. It was close to a lot of restaurants and Lake Champlain. The breakfast was good but we wished they kept serving past 9:00 a. m. The lobby was like a lodge with beams and a stone fireplace. I felt like I was really in the mountains. The pool and jacuzzi and fitness room were awesome. Cons: The cot was kind of bumpy. The pool was too warm for a hot day.

We enjoyed our stay, with some exceptions...
By Cindy, 07/03/06
Pros: Large room (suite) containing a very large bathroom, bedroom with king-size bed and living room/kitchen with a pull-out sofabed. The room was very clean, not spotless, but fine. The lobby area is very charming with a "lodge" feeling. Location was great - easy drive to anything in the area. Bedding for the king bed was good - with a duvet. The cold selection at the buffet (cereals, toast, yogurt) was nice. Hot tub in the pool area was very hot and nice. Cons: The amenities (shampoo, soap) were pretty basic. Beds were VERY soft. Bedding for the sofabed were torn and old. Toilet has a flush that is similar to those in airplanes - extremely noisy, to the point that you are woken up when someone uses the toilet - is this type of flush really necessary? Breakfast is included, but the hot part was not very appealing. Pool area was OK, not great - the towels that they provide are tiny. And I found the water too cold. Overall, I would stay again, but only if i got a better rate - i found the rate I paid quite expensive - I would say this hotel is worth $100/night.

Overall hotel was pretty good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. I think the only down fall was limited parking.
