great time
By TammyB, 8/22/11
We stayed at the Sax in the spring had great time the staff was great. The parking attend. were all very nice. I like that we was off the busy street which gave us enough time to get our things out of the car. I didnt feel rushed. Very trendy decor, which i loved. Close to every thing. Would stay there again for sure.

Sax Sucks!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/10
My wife and I stayed at Sax for two nights. When we received the credit card statement the following month, it was an extra charge of $28. When called, I was told we "consumed two red bulls & a bottle of vodka," which we never did. I never had red bull in my life! And my wife is pregnant, so it doesn't make sense to drink alcohol either! It was shocking that they thought we were not telling them the truth, and they charged us AFTER we had already checked out! This $28 does not make them rich or make us poor, but beware! Don't go there, if you do, check the mini-bar at check in!

Heart of Chicago
By Mr. Music City, 10/24/09
Right in the middle of downtown, this place is great for tourists and shoppers. Haven't quite figured out the decor yet but it is a very nicely appointed hotel. The bar turns into a very, very loud DJ scene at night (great for socializing! G

A weekend to remember
By S, 7/25/08
My fiance surprised me with a mystery trip to Chicago last weekend. He had heard great things about the Hotel Sax from a co-worker, so he booked a room for us there. I am SO thrilled he did! First, let me say that this place is BEAUTIFUL!! It's so different than the usual ho hom decor you see in most hotels. Everything looks like it was especially designed for this place and only this place. I loved all the artwork! It's funky, fresh, and so contemporary. The staff was amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure that Phillip and I had everything we needed, and enjoyed our stay. They were incredibly polite and gracious. From check-in to check-out, we never failed to see a smile on everyone's face. I think it says a lot about a place when it's employees are happy and enjoy their job. The Crimson Lounge was so intimate and chic. We sipped martinis in the lap of luxury. I felt like a rockstar. We took advantage of the Bed & Breakfast Special which included a delicious, and very cozy, meal delivered to our room. There't nothing quite like breakfast in bed on a romantic weekend ;) We saw they were running a summer special deal as well. So, all in all - GO THERE!!!! Book today at the Hotel Sax !!!! You will not be dissapointed.

Wouldn't stay there again.
By STEPHEN BRECHT, 5/1/08
First off let me say the bed, 42" plasma TV, and staff service were all great. The room was always clean and was well stocked with plenty of (typically high priced) snacks and enough alcohol to drop an elephant. Now that that is out of the way on to the other issues... No internet... the 2 wired jacks didn't work and the wireless wouldn't hold a connection for more than 30 seconds. I was (according to the hotel technician that came to check my internet) in one of the best rooms for wireless by the elevators. In the end I could do no work from the hotel room. Although supposedly being freshly renovated, the bottom row of tiles in the tub/shower were soft and sagging from water rot of the wall behind. No bar of soap or bath mat until day 3. The (probably once comfortable) arm chair in the room has been recovered in... I kid you not... imitation vinyl TEXTURED snake skin. Not only does it look horrid the chair is now cold, uncomfortable and squeaks when you sit in it. I used it once for about 30 seconds. No screens on the windows. To the delight of the fly that joined me in my room on day 2. No vending machines in the entire hotel. None, zippo. The guest book says there are but the hotel operator informed me that there aren't after I went looking. I refused to open the $7 bottle of water in my room and wandered off to a grocery store instead. And lastly, who puts a pedestal sink in a hotel room? There is no counter space to put down all the toiletries you typically travel with and I ended up using the toilet tank as a shelf. As much as I loved the bed and TV I personally wouldn't stay there again. If you're just looking for a quiet place to crash though you might consider it.

You could say we were spoiled after saying here
By darlene, 3/27/08
We stayed here between 3/20/08 to 3/23/08.From the moment we left our car with the vallet, we knew we were in store for a treat. We entered the lobby to welcomed and assisted by the bell boy. The place smelled great. My wife had made the reservations over the phone and had got a quote for $169 per night for a deluxe room. In comparison to the Embassy Suites just down the street that was no where near as nice that quoted us $259 per night. When we went in we were immediately welcomed by the front desk and assisted quickly, professionally, and curtiously. We were told all about the amenities such as the Crimson Lounge,Concierge,& The Studio(complete with laptops with internet access, Zune MP3 Players loaded with great music,Bose Quiet Comfort headphones, large screen TV with tons of videos loaded and surround sound, gaming systems, and with the exception of food and beverages that are served by a waiter, every bit of this is free with your stay). When we got up to our room on the 15th floor (room 1517)my wife and I had a bit of a panic attack. Us being the sceptics we are we couldn't believe that this very chic place only cost $169 per night. My wife started doubting herself and had me grab the cell phone and call to act like I wanted to make reservations to confirm that was the correct price. Sure enough it was. We made sure and took pictures of the entire room before we got comfortable, because we wanted to show the room off to our family members when we got back home. The room was firnished with a king size bed with a feather down pillow top mattress, silk duvet & drapes, 32" plasma tv mounted on the wall, desk, faux snake skin chair, Boston mini sound system, safe, pedistal sink with marble counter tops, great exclusive bathing products, plenty of bathing linens, large mirrors, heat lamp in the bathroom, teri cloth robes, and a mini bar. We had a few valuables that we wanted to put in the safe and an employee with loss prevention came up and helped me set my own code for the system. He noticed that the light in the top of the closet was a flourescent one and making a buzzing noise. He immediately offered to have engineering come up and fix that. I told him thanks but it really wasn't bothering me. It was great to have him offer though. When we woke up the next morning we were a bit lost as to what to do with all of the snow storms that had suddently come on. The Concierge Catherine was amazing. She was very informative and suggested we hit some of the museums. So we took her suggestions and went to the FREE Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory. It was great. Catherine continued to help us daily while we were there. If we happened to get up a little late to go to breakfast she would make a suggestion for a place that served breakfast all day. SHE WAS SOOOO PREPARED FOR ANY QUESTION WE THREW HER WAY. Finally Easter Sunday came and it was time to go home. Catherine had made reservations for us just around the corner at Brasserie Jo's for brunch. I had got to thinking that this is the day we are checking out and checkout time is at 12. Brunch is at 11 and I wasn't really sure that we would have time to go eat and come back by 12. So I called down to guest services and explained the situation. I was offered a late checkout time at 1 instead and was asked if that would help make my day easier. I said YES it would and asked if there would be any additional charge. I was told that there would be no additional charge at all and to just have a great brunch. Bottom line is that the Sax Hotel Chicago sets the bar very high for any other hotel to top.

Fantastic Valentine's Night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/07
It was fabulous, for the price in 2004, as the House of Blues Hotel. Great area in Chicago, Go to the Mambo Grill for dinner. Enjoy live music at the House of Blues Hotel.
