Fantastic Valentine's Night
By ,
It was fabulous, for the price in 2004, as the House of Blues Hotel. Great area in Chicago, Go to the Mambo Grill for dinner. Enjoy live music at the House of Blues Hotel.

Amazing escape from reality
By ,
This hotel was totally beautiful. Hip, chic decor from the lobby to the room. Super-comfortable bed (almost better than my bed at home), spacious rooms and bathroom, and awesome showerheads. I work for a travel agency and have stayed in numerous downtown hotels, but the Hotel Sax has definitely taken a spot among the top of my list of favorites. The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming, with a smooth check-in and out. If you are in a hurry when you're leaving and you've taken advantage of their valet parking, be sure to call ahead to have your car waiting or you'll be there for quite a while. Caution: Don't touch anything in the mini-bar or the snack tray unless you plan on using/eating/drinking and paying for it. Everything has sensors, and if it's removed for more than 30 seconds you're automatically charged. The restaurant/wine bar/market in the main floor (BIN 36) was great. Very interesting people watching there, and the wine was fantastic. You can even bring your favorite bottle of wine home from the place for a fairly inexpensive price (depending on the wine, of course!) The club/martini bar CRIMSON was hopping when we were there, seemed like a really happening and hip place (although we didn't visit personally). There is also a convenient store in the basement of the hotel that sells basically anything you could need.. Beer, groceries, toiletries, etc.. Just ask the concierge and they'll tell you how to get there.

Above and beyond
By ,
We had great service from the minute we walked in. The desk upgraded us when he had difficulty finding our reservation because I gave him the wrong name. It was our fault and he still apologized and upgraded us. Their crimsom lounge is so much fun - we eavesdropped on the concierge trying to accommodate some really drunk and difficult guests. He was so kind. The room was great with a unique decor. We knew that we had a good place when our friends (who are very picky) also liked it. The location is great - near great restaurants within walking distance. We even walked to the Museum Campus through Millenium Park from the hotel.

location was perfect
By ,
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Hotel Sax Unique Convenient Great Time
By ,
Stayed nine days and got much more than expected! You have to see the new Unique Bar/Lounge next to Reception area WOW! Felt as if I was in the center of the entertainment in Chicago with House of Blues next door! Hotel has soothing but upbeat music throughout. Close to Downtown, Fabulous Michigan Ave Shopping, Great Steakhouses such as Smith and Wollechesky (The Concierge set us up in a private room at this steakhous as a surprise to us) and also Mortons, Harry Carry's Sullivans etc! You can walk to most of the great Chicago Restaurants. Staff was very friendly and always said hello and they know your name whenever they see you. It is a happy place and they make you feel relaxed and happy. Bed was great! Had a great time and was sad to leave.

Best hotel ever!!
By ,
When we showed up they had given us a free up-grade from a Superior King to a One-bedroom Suite! Beautiful room, and the most comfortable bed! The rooms have been newly renovated & redecorated, and ours had 2 bathrooms! Great service from everyone from the valet, bell boy, check-in & consierge! They gave great recommendations for breakfast & made it easy to book a boat tour through them. Also Bin 36 has fabulous cheese & wine selections! It is a great place to stay if you are seeing a show next door at the House of Blues!! It has a great location...is close to both the theatre district & the river & shopping!! Nothing was more than a few blocks away!

Save your money. RIP OFF.
By ,
A beautiful hotel, yet it is a total rip off. For the price you are paying, you would expect to get more than just a nice room, such as free internet, pool, hot tub, and exercise facilities. The House of Blues provides none of these things, unless you are willing to pay through the nose. We checked out early, and checked in at the Hampton Inn down the street. It was half the price, and had all the free extras that you would expect...

very disappointed
By ,
Don't think the hotel deserves its four star rating at this time. They are under construction, and many amenities are not available. --- No real lobby, no hotel bar, and robes, which were listed on all web sites, were nowhere to be found. --- The room was comfortable, but extremely small and claustrophobic. --- The tub/shower combination was laughable, --- an apparatus that was a half bathtub and shower, and controls were locked so that nothing more than a warm shower was to be had. --- Perhaps construction limited hot water service???? The room, however was very clean. We booked and paid for a "deluxe" room, which was an upgrade from "Superior" --- In reality we were booked into a run of the house superior room, at the deluxe price. -- No comfy place to sit other that the bed (chair for one) --- and no place to put clothes (bureau, drawers, etc.) --- Staff was pleasant, but did not make up for the lack of amenities. would not stay there again.

Funky Fo Sho!
By ,
Very chic, hip and colorful. Clean, nice sized room, huge bathroom. Close to anything and everything downtown. Located steps away from HOB restaurant/bar/stage. Check out the cool bowling alley next door too. Unfortunately on the day of my arrival, as luck would have it, the hotel had switched to a new computer system. Needless to say, people and luggage filled the not so large area at the front desk. Check-in was a very long, delayed, annoying ordeal for guests as well as employees. At check out, I took one bottle of water from my room basket and paid $5.00 cash for it. When I returned home, I noticed an additional charge of $5.00 for the same bottle on my credit card receipt. So aside from the confusion at check in, the no pool on site, and the $10.00 bottle of water, it was a pretty good stay.
