Save your $, and stay somewhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/09
I recently visited DW with my sister and her two boys, 6 & 3. Using my pocketbook for a guide, I made reservations for a preferred room at Disney's All Star Movies "Resort." The preferred room means your room is at the check-in headquarters for whichever All Star place you’re staying.... When we arrived to check in, I was notified by the check-in person that due to a huge group coming in that needed to all be in the same building, that my reservation was downgraded to a non-preferred room. This means our room will be in a location away from the main headquarters which means away from dining, away from bus pick-up, away from any of the perks that could possibly make this place bearable. Yes, I do like conveniences...especially when on vacation. By the way, this is NOT a resort or a hotel; it’s a motel. All the doors to the rooms open up to the outside...I truly do not know how DW gets by not mentioning this to their incoming guests. The All Star rooms are extremely small and the full-size?? beds are even smaller. There’s not one thing the word resort applies to at All Star Movies. Please advise your readers to save a little more $ and stay at another “resort.” Apparently, our stay was during four very busy days in February. From the time we checked in, I was asking to be upgraded to another resort – and everything was full. Finally on the third and fourth days of our stay we were able to stay in another location which was well-worth the difference in cost.

worst place to stay
By Sue, 02/16/09
was the worse place i have ever stayed in - would never go back. they mess up the reservations and blame the travel agency - yet when i showed them my confirmation # then the story changed - ruined 2 days trying to get our rooms straightened out. People behind the check in desks were rude and not helpfull at all -

Help was there
By Irishsprout, 05/30/08
For a Valued Motel of disney world resorts, it was the first place I found to stay at that did two extreamily helpful things; First, they offered free bed rails for our 1 & 2 yr. old kids who shared a twin bed. Secondly, when arriving, the resort found out that the airline that we took losst our baggage claimed luggage. Therefore, they offered us $50 dollors in cash in order to buy the things we needed until we got our luggage delivered.

Not bad for the price
By Holly, 05/19/08
Not exactly a 5-star resort, but compared to other Disney hotels, this may be the only one you can afford. It's clean and if you tip housekeeping they'll make characters out of your hand towels and place them in your window (The kids LOVED this)! The pools are cute, the food court is over-priced but convenient, and transportations to anywhere on Disney Property is provided free of charge. The rooms are small so expect to go to be along with the kids. You can rent a fridge for a charge at the reservations desk.

Bright and cheerful place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/08
Wonderful atmosphere, very clean. Negative aspects were that it could be difficult to speak to someone at the front desk as often not enough staff to deal with people waiting, foodcourt staff were unfriendly. The worst part was the transportation to the parks - the buses would nearly always be full as this hotel was last on the pick-up route, no-one would even ever offer a seat to moms struggling to carry babies. It was the same on the way back from the parks - long lines for the buses which were then crammed full.

Keep coming back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/08
I have been to Disney World so many times, I lost count years ago. This was the third time we've stayed at the All Star Movies. We have tried all the other value resorts at Disney and some moderate resorts too. The All Star Movies is our favorite because our son loves the themed rooms and the main pool with Mickey dressed in the Fantasia costume. This last time we went we had a room in the Fantasia section, and the room was decorated with the movie characters and Mickey. When my son got tired, he use to say "let's go to sleep at Mickey's room". And he went bonkers when he saw the giant Woody and Buzz statues. The rooms are very good, but we were at the parks all day anyway. The service has always been excellent. The food is always good and you don't have to wait a long time for the buses to get there in the morning. For people with infants and toddlers though, we recommend renting a car just because the lines get very long after the parks close. Also, the Disney Dining Plan is a must! Make a good schedule and reserve at the expensive restaurants and character dining you want to eat at first!

Never stay there again
By RanDye R, 10/19/07
I can't stand it when people dog a hotel when they should have known better but here I am doing it. For the money we spent on the high priced terrible food, we could have stayed at a nice hotel and rented a car in Kissimmee. I felt like cattle in a herd waiting in line for food, the bus, to talk to someone at the front desk, basically anything. It's the farthest resort so once you do wait 20 min for a bus in a crowd of hot gripy people, it then takes another 20 to 30 min to get to a park, whole hour wasted. Getting breakfast was like fighting a tidal wave and everyone was rude, workers and guests alike. The room was like a closet, not good for kids that come back tired and hyper and the beds were so small that I had to get up to roll over. Within two days I wished we had shelled out the money to stay at the Polynesian or Contemporary, It's not worth the savings to stay at a value resort.
