Excellent
By Ariane, 1/26/13
The Monaco in Denver epitomizes the Kimpton aesthetic; chic, comfortable and always a home away from home. Add in an award winning restaurant and workout facilities with state of the art equipment and you have all the ingredients to kick it up a notch.

“Ritz-Carlton quality”
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/12
The Kimpton chain hotels are amazing! When we arrived at Denver they facebooked us to ask if we were still coming and that they couldn't wait to see us and the dogs. They helped us get the luggage up to the room and also had pet beds and pet bowls waiting for us just like we had requested. Also they give you complimentry beer which was amazing and everynight they have wine you can go down to the lobby and drink it's really awesome. To sum this up it's a great hotel with great amenities I would recommend staying at any of the chains! :-)

Trendy and Young... Not Necessarily A Good Thing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/07
We had high hopes for the Hotel Monaco that were received with mixed reviews. The hotel itself is very beautiful, much like the bright and crazy hotels you might find at a quaint B&B in Las Vegas. Valet parking offered at $24/night, but parking across the street at a meter is free. Caution though, the ladies right next to us ended up with a $20 parking ticket for parking at the wrong meter! Concierge was only lightly helpful, not knowing much of local direction; employees were very nice but could have been more professional. In addition, rooms vary quite a bit. For the same price, you could end up with a suite- or small bedroom-sized accomodation. Apparently it is "because we are in a historic building..." Not sure what that means. Also lots of pets (it was grand to have ours there), however, there is no warning that they are allowed pretty much everywhere including at the complimentary wine service. One or two times a few poor guests found themselves with allergies upon realizing this. Overall a decent find, I was a little disappointed at some of the unsure answers I received such as lack of local knowledge, where to park, and not warning guests about pets.

Hotel Monaco a small treasure!
By Dee, 4/12/07
We like quirky, boutique style hotels and the Hotel Monaco did not disappoint. We loved the pet friendly atmosphere and enjoyed checking the dog-shaped chalkboard to see who had checked in every day (our favorite name was Dew-Dew!) The dogs are even invited to the free wine social in the lobby every night. The rooms can vary; for example our room was a king, but the desk and television armoire were practically jammed next to each other, while my sister's room was much larger with her desk and tv armoire being yards apart. When I asked why the two rooms were sooo different in size (yet the same price), the answer was "We're in a historic building, so the room sizes will understandably be different." Huh? Also, be careful of parking on the street. The bellman told us you could park all night on weekends without feeding the meter (which would have saved us $25/night for valet parking). Read the fine print on the meters, as there's NO parking at all after 2am on some parts of the street. We got a $20 parking ticket! The restaurant Panzanno's is phenomenal! Not to be missed. We ate there three times and it was fantastic. There was no internet access in the business center however, so if you don't bring your own laptop, you're out of luck. They told us we could go next door to the Residence Inn and use their business center computers, which we did with no problem. We'd definitely stay at the Monaco again.

Save your money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/06
The Monaco was way overpriced and the room was a lot smaller than what we reserved. Everything in the honor bar is also overpriced, more so than most hotels. There is a 7-eleven 2 blocks away, but beware, the neighborhood is riddled with homeless people. There is only valet parking and they charge $24 for that. Not to mention the valets acted like a bunch of children. Save your money and find a better place for less.

Expected Better!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/06
We stayed at the Hotel Monaco for New Year's Eve. There are lots of things to like about the hotel, comfy beds, clean room, great wine reception and a pet friendly atmosphere. However, our package was $370 for the night. This included valet parking, Champagne (horrible tasting) party favors and brunch. The room was lovely, but we had constant issues with the toilet. We had to have it worked on 3 times, and the last time after it overflowed. Because of the problem, we were forced to use the public restrooms in the basement. I realize that things like this can happen. However, while everyone was said they were sorry and they were prompt arriving, the general impression was sorry, but we hope you will try us again. Why would we? No attempt was made to give us another room, some how compensate for the ongoing issue, etc. For the money, I think more than an apology was in order.
