The Hyatt Lodge

This year for spring break, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Chicago together. It was our first spring break alone, so we wanted to have a memorable time, and one of the things that made that possible was The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook, Illinois. The Hyatt Lodge is 20 miles from Chicago located at McDonald’s Campus; we liked that because it wasn’t in the town so it was more relaxing for us.
The Hyatt Lodge is beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. When you walk into the lodge, you can see a calm and relaxing sitting area with a nice fire place. The outside has a big pond with a little water fall in the front. We booked over the phone a few days before we arrived. The prices run around $160 on the weekdays because they have business conferences during that time and $99 dollars on the weekends, so the price rage was about average. There is an extra $50 charge once you arrive for room service charges. If you go over then you pay once you check out, and if you don’t use room service at all then you get your money back at the end of your stay. I find this pointless, because they should just charge you for it when you check out. The parking lot was a bit of a walk away from the hotel, I’d say approximately 20 yards away but that didn’t really matter to us much.
The staff was very nice and they answered all of our questions, for instance we couldn’t find the pool so they were very polite and directed us to the pool area. There were a few restaurants inside of the hotel, but we never tried any of them. We ended up getting room service a couple of the nights instead, and it was delicious. There weren’t many choices to choose from, but they did have Chicken Cesar salads and Cheese Burgers also if you like nachos, I recommend you try them because they are amazing!
The room that we stayed in was extremely nice, clean and spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable, and the room itself was relaxing. The bathroom was very neat and clean it also had a lot of space. We had our window looking over the big pool and hot tub; we also had a nice flat screen television. This made our stay even more delightful.
There were a few things we didn’t like about the hotel which was that if we wanted to rent a movie then we had to pay an extra $15 for it and also internet was $10 a night, which we only used for one day. They had a workout room but that was also an extra $8 per day. So they had a lot of amenities, but you had to pay more to get them. Which we thought should have all been included in the price of the hotel cost. The hotel also has a spa, but it was only open on the weekdays, so we didn’t end up doing that either. We did enjoy the pool and the hot tub, it was relaxing. The locker rooms to get to the pool area were also very nice and clean. The showers were big, and you didn’t need to bring your own shampoo or body wash, because they provided it for you. It had big light up mirrors and wooden lockers to hold your personal items in.
Despite the extra costs, my boyfriend and I had a great time staying at The Hyatt Lodge in Illinois, and if I do end up going back, I would definitely stay again, but next time I would like to try the restaurants inside the hotel because they looked really nice and well kept. We drove my 2004 Olds Alero, which has good gas mileage instead of spending a lot of money on a shuttle bus or a taxi everyday. So if you want to visit Chicago and you don’t mind a 20 mile drive, then I highly recommend that you make reservations at the Hyatt Lodge and make sure you try Chicago’s Hot Dogs because they are delicious!
