Hotel Hacienda El Jaral, Sta. Rosa de Copan

I stayed here during a birthday weekend trip while living in Honduras and this hotel was the best! It's not right in town, but that's what I liked about it. It was very clean and quiet and there are hammocks you can lay on right on the poarch. If I recall the beds are a little stiff, but honestly that's really a pretty small problem considering what else could be wrong. There are some parrots in a huge cage on the grounds that you can go see (course, you'll probably see some in the wild at the Ruinas). Overall a very relaxing, clean hotel. I would stay there again for sure. The restaurant is good as well.

I didn't like the rooms at all. The beds were so hard (the base of the bed is made of stone). My children enjoy their time in the Aqua park, this is the nice place here. A recommendation, please take a hotel in Copan Ruinas (El jaral is like 20 minutes out town) and if you want to swim, you can hire a tour to the Aqua Park.

We lived in Honduras in the early 90s. (The last visit date is incorrect but it was the earliest one to pick.)Anytime that we went to Copan, El Jaral is where we stayed. The cabins are great, always clean, a little on the rustic side, and the staff always very attentive. The biggest plus is that it is relatively secluded, and you are not bothered by street vendors every time you step out of your room. When we stayed you could rent movies, set up a horse back ride in the mountains to see yet undisturbed ruins, and there is a green area where little kids can romp around. I also liked it because, like most highly populated areas in Honduras, the city is noisy 24 hours a day. There are no noise ordinances down there, it's just a way of life. At the ranch, you only hear the jungle noises at night. We are going back to Honduras for a visit and will definitely stay here while in Copan.

We stayed here in 1998 and it was fantastic. Like the other reviewers said, its close but secluded at the same time. Our room had a hammock facing the jungle so that was really nice. We were going to stay in town, but when we drove in there was lots of trafic and confusion and children running next to our car trying to convence us to go to their hotel, it was conjested with busses and there were armed guards standing around. I remembered seeing this hotel on the way to town so we made a bee-line back to El Jarel as fast as we could and it was paradise.I want to return and would recommend to everyone! Our waiter - Helmut Garcia- was very helful, attentive and pleasant too!

Very nice, the ambience is cozy, plenty of actvities and relatively short ride to town and to the ruins. It�s been about 10 years since the first time I stayed, they are constantly creating new activities. The pools are nice and the climate at night is amazing.

Atmosphere and responsive staff made for a delightful stay. It has a small church which has made it a very popular for weddings. The food is excellent with the added variety of an occasional buffet.
