Be sure to ask questions
With two young children, we started a tradition by spending New Year's Eve at a hotel. This hotel caught our eyes right away when we were searching online. We really liked the fact that it not only had a pool but also a complimentary breakfast and happy hour offering snacks (Mon-Thurs). So, i called to get the scoop. The gentleman told me that because New Year's eve falls on a Wednesday, they would have the snacks and bar open. I also printed off the information on the rooms and noticed that the 1 suite bedroom comes with a full kitchen, meaning it had an oven. We thought this would be convienent for our young kids...cook up a pizza or something. So, we booked it! I called 3 days prior to make sure they still had our reservation. I also asked about the snacks they would have out in the evening. The lady told me that because it's New Year' eve, they wouldn't have it opened. We were a little disappointed but didn't let it ruin our plans. I then called back to double check that we had an oven (to bring pizza's for the kids), she tells me that the room we booked did not have the oven. I proceded to tell her that these were the 2 biggest reasons we booked with them when we booked back in November. She apologized, but there was nothing she could do. So, we showed up, and as I was showing her the printoff from the internet (that posted the wrong information), she felt bad for us and upgraded our 1 bedroom suite to a 2 bedroom suite, with an oven for no additional cost. We were very thankful for that and in the end, really enjoyed our stay. My message is to make sure that you double check with someone on what you think you're getting in advance. Especially with 2 young kids...it makes life easier.
