We had a great stay at the Bentley.
The rooms were clean and very nice. The city traffic noise wasn't a problem. The view was great. The restaurant was good. The service was completely hassle-free, both check in, check out, and everything in between. About the only thing I could find to complain about was that it was a good walk from the subway, and when we were there it was really hot and humid. No fault of the hotel, and that was easily fixed by taking a taxi. When we wanted a cab, the bellmen had us in one as fast as we could walk out to it, and even when we started out walking and then decided to hail a cab on York St. in front of the hotel, my arm was in the air maybe 5 seconds before one was stopping. Airport transportation to LaGuardia was a breeze as well. They just made life easy. I booked through one of the online companies and the rooms were priced as booked, and I used my cell phone for calls and paid in the restaurant rather than charging to room credit, so at checkout I had no additional charges. I do wish they had free wireless internet, but charging for wireless internet is certainly not unique to the Bentley.
I really don't understand the reviews complaining about this hotel. Last time I was in NYC I stayed in the Crowne Plaza on Times Square, which is more expensive, and I thought both the service and rooms at the Bentley were a lot better than the Crowne Plaza. I will admit that I was a bit reulctant to book at the Bentley since I'd never seen the place and didn't know anyone who had stayed there, and it had mixed reviews, but it was one of the nicer hotel experiences I've ever had, and I've had a lot of them. My compliments to the Bentley staff.
