Dated and a bit shabby.

The Dominion lobby has a cool vibe, but a vibe circa 1998. "Shabby chic" sofas and chairs, metallic silk curtains, wenge-ish wood fixtures all speak of trends past. Our room (Deluxe) was large and loft-like, but the carpet was worn, the furniture cheaply made (modern furniture with fake French hardware?), and the room was dirty! The bedskirt was soiled and sagging, the higher parts of the bathroom were smudged and dusty. The shower curtain was cheap and tatty (for some reason we had *both* a shower and a tub-shower). Bed linens were worn and thin, towels (only one per customer!) were tiny and flaccid, bed felt past its prime. Nice robes, but no slippers, which is a pet peeve of mine (and with that icky carpet!). The evening turn-down involved draping the used robes across the bed, with the belts hanging on the floor -- yuck. One afternoon, a woman from the front desk started to enter our room when we were in it, to check for a lost item, and she left her key in the lock! Very sloppy, and inconsiderate. The breakfast selections were good, and the always-available espresso machine was very welcome. Some of the desk employees were very eager to please. But this hotel is past its prime, and is poorly managed (as the tatty room and hallways suggest). Guest should not have to walk past plastic bags of laundry next to their doors. The exposed and frayed carpet seams in our hallway made us doubt the cleanliness of the entire place. I was very disappointed with this hotel. Perhaps it's resting on its laurels?
