Marriotts Grande Vista, Orlando

All in all It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at SweetHotelDeals. N e t They usually have some pretty good deals on there.

Our trip was soured by the attitude of the kids activities staff. Snotty, rude, and stuck up girls who made us feel unwanted. To make it worse, one of the head staff was tattling on her co worker to a boss in the hallways when we were sitting at the computer station able to hear it all. Talk about class! I travel for work and I have to say this is the most rude and unprofessional staff I have come across. A few of the guys at the front desk are nice but that was it. Oh and we saw a roach crawling on the door frame in the lobby. Also the lobby doesn't have any cell phone access, it is cut off. If you have to wait there for anything be prepared to go outside to get any cell reception. Would never go back.

This place is very clean and the location is awesome, but if you're a kid like me, it's utter boringness. For kid's there are three things you can do. Spend more than $20 in the arcade with games that are broken or are a rip-off, Play in the mini climbing maze destined to get you hurt, (which happened with me) or go in the pools that are heated but small with shallow water and oldies (60+) swimming around you, and if you're a kid who likes jacuzzi's, there are 2 for you to sit in. If you're 21, than this place is awesome for you! You have stuff to do all the time. Golfers also have stuff to do, but only nine holes, and a tennis court. Really, there's not much to do there, so don't get caught up in the resort part of the name. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

We had a Nintendo DSi and game cards (value $500) stolen from our hotel room most likely by housekeeping. Housekeeping did not come to our condo suite until the 7th day of our 9 day stay. During those 7 days, my son played with his DSi whenever he had free time. He left the game system on a table in the bedroom. On our 7th day at the resort we were out all day and upon returning we saw that housekeeping had come in (beds were made, linen and supplies were replenished) and the DSi was gone. After a thorough search we called the front desk the next morning and someone from Loss Prevention came to take our report. He seemed completely disinterested and unsympathetic. After a day of no response, my husband made several calls to different hotel personnel but no one seemed to be able to address our problem. We had to deal with 3 different people from Loss Prevention before someone called us back. He told us that the housekeeper who came to our room was questioned and she said that she “did not see any DSi in our room”. He then told us to call their Insurance Company to make a claim. We wanted to know the name of the person whom had been in our room but was told that it was confidential information. We have stayed in many hotels before and usually a card is left with the name of the housekeeper. I don’t know why this establishment chooses to promote secrecy over accountability and transparency. We felt that we were given the “runaround”, no one took us seriously and there was no policy in place to prevent or deter housekeeping theft. We are very surprised and disappointed that the Marriot-such a huge and reputable (so we thought) hotel chain would operate like this. We will not return to this resort again nor recommend it to anyone due to their shoddy handling of room theft. This could certainly happen again to us and other guests. My 11 year old son felt very dejected and personally violated. He had over 250 pictures and creative art work stored on a SD card in the game system. This really put a black cloud over our vacation. LOCK EVERYTHING!!!

Awesome place for a family vacation, I wish I never left. They had a movie at the pool on Friday night for the kids, friendly staff, close by everything. The room was amazing and beds very confy.. Can't wait to get back.

I am in love with this resort... I cant wait to return next year.. Everyone was so nice and would do anything for you.. The grounds were beautiful, we walked around every night I loved it. There was so much to do we didn't even have to leave, but when we did it was nice because everything was so close.. It was mine and my boy friends first vacation together and it was the best time ever.. There was always something to do, the drinks were great There really is not much I can complain about , but the love bugs were def. busy and were every where at the end of our vacation, but we just dealt with them .. I would recommend if your looking for a place to stay .. you can stop looking now because this is the place to go...

The first impression we had was just how grand and posh the registration building is. They checked us in and asked us how many swipe cards we wanted. A nice folder with information in it about the resort and a reusable bag with 10% off from the Marketplace were provided at that time. We had no difficulty finding our room. We were able to locate a bellhop cart to get our luggage into our rooms. Our family of five rented two lockout rooms where the door could be opened between the suites. We had a king sized bed and full bath in each suite along with two couches that turned into full sized beds. The larger suite had a dining room table that seats six. The kitchens in both suites had marble counter tops and ceramic tile (some tile was chipped). In the larger kitchen, there were plenty of measuring cups and pans that I was able to make our families favorite cake. The kitchen had a flat top range, teapot, coffee pot, toaster, microwave and dishwasher. There were glass glasses, plastic glasses, silverware, plates, bowls and coffee cups in the cupboards. There were even a couple of tupperware like containers. A small container of dish soap and tide was in the kitchen (they replaced the tide and coffee daily). There is a small stacked washer and dryer combination in the kitchen and they functioned well. Each room had a balcony that overlooked the golf course. The larger suite had a screened balcony with more chairs. The larger suite had a large 2 person bathtub style jacuzzi that we wished we had had time to use. In the larger room, there were his and her closets, a small safe and a hairdryer that I did not like. My sister, who stayed next door to us also did not like the hairdryer. The design of the wall holder allows it to fall out and the size was much smaller than I am accustomed to. You either get a major blast of air or a mediocre blast of air ... nothing really in between. That would have to be my biggest complaint. When we left our suite in the morning and returned in the evening, we came back to a clean kitchen and the dishwasher had been run. There were plenty of towels for a family of five for showers and poolside. The Pizza Hut delivery came right to the room and was very handy. The pools are well maintained, heated and beautiful. Some of the housecleaning staff did not speak English well when we asked them to come back later. If you don't want them to come in at all, you sign off and they'll come back the next day. I would recommend the suites for a family. Between the two lockout rooms, there were 3 flat screen TV's and one DVD player which would probably be great for rainy days. The pool in the main building was a short walk from our rooms. We enjoyed the hot tubs and pools late at night. On the more chilly nights, there is a space heater by the bar. We just brought sweat shirts and were fine walking back to the suites. There is plenty of recreation from golf to water activities. They rent kayaks, 2 and 4 seat paddle boats and have a strip of sand for a beach. They have a gym and other complimentary activities like free use of a pool table and there is a conservation trail that is a nice walk. The kids saw a lizard on the walk and some flowers. They have a security gate you pass through which gave us comfort. There is a Publix nearby to purchase groceries because the Marketplace at the resort is overpriced as one would expect. Their bagged ice was complimentary though. Sometimes coming back late at night parking was a little tough to find. When our trash was full we brought it down to the trash room. Some people left theirs outside their door and there was a time we left a bag in our rooms and housecleaning took it. Our family loved the resort and want to go back again. It was definitely worth the money as we had a Marriott friends and family discount. It was super close to the Disney parks and really close to Sea World. It is in a great location.

My family and I stayed here in July 2008 and WE LOVED IT. We were close to alot of attractions and only a 45 minute drive to Cocoa Beach which is where we normally stay. My 12 years old son enjoyed using ALL 5 pools and getting temp. tattoos by the pool. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony each morning and watching an alligator(which my kids named Steve) come up and sun on the grass below us. My sister and her family stayed at a different resort and when they came over to visit us they said that when we come back June 2010 that we are all staying here. W give it ten stars.

The grounds of the Grande Vista were absolutely beautiful, the front desk staff was extremely helpful and the bed was comfortable. That was the highlight of our stay. The rooms are not for those that do not like tight places, they are long and very narrow. We were 2 adults and the first room they put us in was dark and directly under the childrens pool that is open until 11:00 p.m. The second room had lighter cabinets which made the room seem bigger and at the pool did not have as many kids which was much quieter but the trash and dirty linens stayed in the walkways all night. The cleaning staff was very rude and lazy. The screen door was falling off the track and the front door had gaps large enough for any and all bugs to crawl through. We were disturbed by people trying to sell us a time share at the property. All in all, it is NOT a place for a restful vacation unless you are planning on taking a lot of children with you.

We checked in on a Saturday night. When we got to the condo we immediately noticed that it was not the 2 bedroom floorplan advertised on the website so we called the front desk and they quickly transferred us to the floorplan we expected, which was terrific and much more functional for two couples, two kids, and a nanny. I personally do not like carpet in Florida villas (ceramic tile, marble, or granite is cooler) but the decor was nice. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped but the compact washer/dryer was in a small closet so it was hard to maneuver. The bathrooms were large and clean but we did find the previous occupant's underwear draped on top of the shower rod! The beautifully made beds were extremely comfortable and we slept soundly every night!!! The a/c in the one half of the condo did not work upon arrival but the engineers quickly got it working. The a/c in the other half worked ok but it was never as cool as the other side. Service was terrific but it just never got cool. The pool areas were a blast, especially the ones by the copa loca grill. The food and drinks at the copa loca grill were reasonably priced and very, very good! We ate there several times and were thrilled with the menu. One night the resort had a Polynesian luau which was fantastic! We had so much fun. One afternoon at the pool a palmetto bug (I think that's what floridians call roaches) landed on our guest's neck! It was sort of creepy. Then, the next morning, we had an even bigger one in our dining room! We think it was because the kids left food out overnight. It was gross but we called the front desk and it was taken care of and we did not see any more palmetto bugs! Everyone was very friendly and courteous at the MGV. We stayed at Marriott Cypress Harbour two years before and enjoyed it as well. We did not dine there nor use the pool as much as at MGV but we did like the condo and decor better at MCH. I'd say they are both a 3 or 4 star.
