Description

Extended Stay America-Kansas City-Shawnee Mission is located half a mile from Shawnee Medical Center and approximately 26 miles from the Kansas City Airport. The hotel specializes in extended-stay itineraries and thus provides on-site laundry facilities and provides dry cleaning service. Business services include mail delivery, complimentary incoming fax, and copy and outgoing fax service for a small fee. Housekeeping service is provided on a twice-weekly basis for guests staying seven nights or more. Guests staying more than four nights (but less than a week) receive the mid-week refresh only. One pet is accepted per guestroom. The general manager has the authority to allow additional pets per room, based on his or her own discretion. Guests with a pet are charged a minimum $75 pet fee upon check-in.All guestrooms have a full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and dining and cooking utensils. Other room amenities include a workspace with computer dataport, $1 per stay for unlimited local calls, personalized voicemail, and iron and full size ironing board. Pet Policy-One pet per room is allowed. A $25 USD cleaning fee will be charged per night, not to exceed $150 USD. This charge will be applied at check-in. Extended Stay Hotels now offers complimentary high-speed internet.

STAY AWAY!!!

My review will read like the others posted. The first room was dirty and had a broken air conditioner. There is no maintenance help on the weekend and I checked in on Sunday. The second would not open to the door key. The phone didn't work in the third room, but I had paid through Travelocity and couldn't get a refund. My room had ants... fortunately, I wasn't charged extra for them. I did pay extra for internet access. I have never used a slower service - except in the early days of dial up access. DO NOT WALK BAREFOOT ON THE CARPET!! Talking with management did little more than provide EXCUSES. The area manager basically called me a liar and wouldn't give me the name of his supervisor. He did give me a 1-800 customer relations number to call. He told me that he'd been in the business a long time (he sounded as if he were in his 20's) and assured me that whomever I spoke with would do no better for me than he had offered - a coupon for one free night in another one of their poorly maintained rooms.

Never going back!

The first room we were given already had someone staying in it. The second room looked ok, until we pulled back to comforter only to see huge holes in the stained blanket underneath. The cups in the room had a greasy residue on them, there was only a half roll of toilet paper, no paper towels, the tub was filthy, the walls are paper thin so you hear everything going on around you, the bed is like sleeping on cardboard and the room was extremely dusty and had a stale smell like it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly in months. I will never go back to this hotel. The rooms may be a reasonable rate, but very uncomfortable.

This was not good, this time...

Prior stays had been acceptable, considering the proximity of my family event. First the room had a broken key, door wouldn't open..after I hiked with luggage to get there, went back to the office (couldn't get the housekeeper to try to help)...got another room. Bedsread was crumpled in the middle of the bed. I laid it out, and got ready to leave...1/8th roll of toilet paper left. No ice, refrig was warm, no silverware. spiders and mold in the bathroom, the voicemail didn't work. When I got back and prepared to go to bed, I pulled back the sheets, to find they were old, stained and covered in body hair. The front desk clerk brought me new sheets and pillowcases, and I was credited $10.00 for the night. Couldn't get more TP from the housekeeper the office was not open, so I had to use pieces of papertowels. The floor in the bathroom was dirty, and I got about 3 hours sleep each night...the mattress was hard as a rock, the new sheets were too small for the bed and everytime I turned they came loose. Regretfully, I stayed the 2nd night. But will not stay here again, nor recomend it. A bargain price, not a bargain for a bad stay.
