SummerPlace Inn, Destin

Check in was at 4:00 we called to make sure if we came early we could check in. Got there at 3:30 and room was not clean yet. So we waiting in the front lobby. We finally checked in at 4:30, Check in was 4:00! How can the room still not be cleaned and it is 4:30!!!!! Breakfast starts a 7:00 however, breakfast wasn't ready until 7:30. It seems like they only had one for everything. One maid, one person to set up breakfast, one person to check in, one elevator, one luggage cart. The room we stayed in was okt. Housekeeping was not so good. Picked up used towels but never left any. We had to go to the front desk for towels. Refrigertor in room did not work. It seem like everyone hated their jobs and no one was polite. We stayed for 4 days and the worst thing on our vacation was our hotel stay!!! We will never stay there again. The hotel is no where cross the beach. You have to walk a few blocks or we just drove there b/c with a family you can't carry all your stuff.

We had planned to only stay for 4 days but ended up extending our stay twice......this hotel is AMAZING....our room was beautiful....the staff was FANTASTIC.....the price was so reasonable......we would definitely return to OUR Summerplace Inn....a gem in Destin.

We are literally staying at the SummerPlace Inn in Destin, Fl right now - and I am so in love with this hotel I had to tell everyone as soon as possible. Never have I stayed at a hotel with such an amazing group of staff. Smiles all the way around and SO HELPFUL!!! I also can't say enough about how beautiful this hotel is! When I go to my room, everytime, I feel like I'm entering a 5 star hotel. This place is amazing!

I have stayed in many hotels in Florida and other states up and down the east coast and midwest. Watching various news shows, I follow the recommendation to sanitize the remote controls, alarm clocks, telephones and door handles, and I don't drink from glasses that are not wrapped in sealed packaging. I have to admit that my wife's greatest fear has always been bugs in my hotel room. WELL, NIGHTMARES CAN COME TRUE!!! While trying to relax in bed on my first night, my wife looked over and saw a small bug crawling across the sheets. I complained to the night attendant and she quickly accomodated a quick move for me and my family across the hall where my wife promptly checked for bugs in the beds. None were found, but once we were moved over, we notice that there were several ketchup (or something,ugh) splatters on the wall, the bathroom fan did not work and the floor was not very clean. I am in the process of deciding to either check out tomorrow and return home, or try to stick it out (we pre-paid a third party for this stay and may lose the money). My recommendation: Stay any where in Destin but here. Also, the "heated" indoor pool was colder than the outside pool, and the fitness room was closed for use, the microwaves had food pieces left over from breakfast this morning. Where is housekeeping?
