Very disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/10
This on Oct.30 is our third night's stay. We have had no cleaning service---no coffee, cups, clean glasses, no bed made, no garbage emptied, shampoo, soap etc. This is inexcusable for a top rated hotel in our capital city! I even had to pay for internet to send you this message. The Groves.

A little pricey but we have had a few nice stays.
By PJ, 9/25/10
My family and I have stayed in this hotel several times and have always had a good experience. Much better in fact than the Marriot down the street. There is a Hampton Inn that is a couple blocks away that is a little cheaper but the Emabssy's breakfast is worth it. One point of note, the person who wrote never again on here. On 07/03/06 there was a hip hop concert that was canceled. I believe the review they gave is not a good representation of this hotel. The staffing in Embassy Hotels are ALWAYS on. If there is any problem just call the manager in the morning and it will definitly be taken care of.

Don't do it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/10
I was attending a conference that was being held in the hotel. Therefore, I thought it would be a convenient place to stay. I was on the 9th floor. The room was clean and the staff were extremely nice! However, the room was at the front of the hotel and there is a hospital on the corner. The windows next to the bed actually open (no screens) which made for a drafty room. The biggest problem was the noise! The windows need new seals as you could hear everything from the street below. Ambulances from the hospital on the corner and snow plows at all hours of the night were the biggest noises. However, pick-up trucks accelerating from the intersections were loud enough to disturb sleep. The smoke alarm in the bedroom was covered with a plastic bag???? At 5:00 AM the battery in the smoke alarm was low so the alarm began to beep! The maid serve knocked on the door around 8 AM to see if we had checked out yet (check out is at noon). By the way, the fees are horrible! The room was $200.00 per night after taxes. There is a $9.00 fee for parking in a parking garage that has a $1.75 fee during the day. The hotel offers free internet in the commons areas but it is $9.99 per night in the room. Pay per view in the room is $14.99 per movie. IF you use the one bottle of water in the room next the coffee maker a $3.00 charge is billed to your room.

Very nice
This is a perfectly nice hotel to stay at. We have stayed here twice, both times on business travel for one night only. The last time we were here we were unexpectedly upgraded to the "Presidential" suite. It was huge and very nice. The breakfast in the morning and snacks in the evening are the best and largest we have seen. Two things to note: this is an atrium hotel, meaning the center is wide open and the rooms surround the perimeter. So you do walk an open "cat walk" to get to your room. If you're queasy about heights, ask for a lower floor. Also, you check in not at a main desk, but at a kiosk where you register yourself and print your own keys. There is a staffed desk tucked neatly nearby, so help is in the area. All in all, a very nice hotel.

Great Shopping Location
By Candace Lynn, 7/19/09
The hotel is high riser, the lobby area is a jungle like area, happy hour is from 5pm to 7pm, where upon drinks and snacks are provided for hotel guest. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The Mall next door was great, found some terrific deals. Dining in or out is great, rooms were different but good. Pool was great as well as exercise room looked like a popular place for conventions, weddings, and sightseeing groups.

Great hotel for the money
By James, 5/23/07
We stay at this hotel regularly while traveling to and from Ohio. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is excellent. Great value when you consider the cost of a room plus breakfast for five when staying at a cheaper hotel. Kids love the pool.

Positive Experience
By stacyb, 1/7/07
We stayed here for two nights during a convention that we attended. The only thing that I thought was negative was that we had to wait extra long to check in. We arrived slightly before check in time but had to wait a good bit longer. We were never really given an explanation...just that we couldn't check in yet. Other than that the rooms were lovely and comfortable, the location great, and breakfast was one of the best we've had at any hotel. One night during the convention was extremely cold (January). Although we only had to walk a block back from the Civic Center, a courtesy van was waiting after the event to take anyone back to the hotel that wanted a ride. They had soda and water available in the van. And it was only a block away. We are going back again next week and are staying at the Embassy Suites again.

NEVER AGAIN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/06
We reserved a room because we were attending a concert in town. The concert was postponed. We could not get a refund or raincheck so we had to go stay anyway. After check-in, we went to our room. The room was not clean at all. The toilet seat had drops of urine on it. The carpet was so soiled that our socks turned black. The windows had so many handprints and spiderwebs that you could not enjoy the view of the city outside. The only thing enjoyable was the large king size bed. Next time we need a place to stay in Charleston, be assured that it will not be Embassy Suites.
