Beachview Inn Motel, Santa Cruz

This is a dive of all dives. I am not sure where to begin... We were told that we had 2 reservations, and both where for rooms with two double beds. We got one room with that configuration, the other had one queen bed in it. Floor was disgusting, could not walk without shoes or socks on. Bedspread was the same. Mattresses where hard as rocks. Bathrooms where small, and our toilet broke while we were there. They told us to use the one in the lobby instead. It did get fixed by the end of te day. The other room had a broken air conditioner and the hotel told us they tried, but could not fix it...and it was desparately needed. Combo of the horrible mattresses and the heat and no air made it unbareable to sleep. Ice maker was broken and the hand written sign on the ice machine was very weathered so you know it has been a while since it has worked. The other people staying at the hotel looked very questionsable and I did not feel very safe. The "continental breakfast" consisted of swenson prepackages breakfast rolls, coffee and orange juice. There was also one kind of cereal and milk. Not to mention we paid a fortune for this room since it was the start of summer. Defiantely not worth it. While both the ladies at the front desk were more then nice, it did not make up for this shack of a hotel. Do not stay here- run far away.

I will be staying there any time I go to Santa Cruz. It is located very close to the pier, with a short walk to the boardwalk. The room was clean though small. The desk person was very nice and helpful. Just remember the place is older and small, look at the pictures offered online. This is not a Hilton, but it isn't priced like one ether.

Beach view Inn is in a great location, has great prices, the people are friendly and I felt safe leaving my car while walking the boardwalk.

The people are so cool and helpful its clean and you can see the ocean and if you open the window you can hear the waves its truly the best and the price is wonderful stay upstairs in the second room you can see it all so close to the boardwalk and the beach I have stayed their 3 times and Im getting ready to go back! you wont be sorry.

I have no worse memories of a hotel/motel stay than the ones from the Beach View Inn. I was harassed in every possible way. I was even told that I would be billed for excess water use. I had local friends stop by to pick me up before heading down to the beach. They were stopped and interrogated as they entered the property. One had to use the bathroom, and as I opened the door to let her in, the owner stopped her and said that an additional fee would be added if she entered the room. Absolutely uncalled for behavior. This would get poor rating even if it were a prison.
