Best hotel anywhere!
By Janis, 2/9/07
Sam and the other staff members made us feel like family; the accommodations are wonderful; the location is perfect. We've traveled around the world and this is as good as it gets! I would make a trip to Cape Town just to stay here again. The hotel is on an enclosed courtyard with restaurants and outdoor seating so one can stay close to home or go out for food/entertainment.

Excellent 1st Impression of Cape Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/06
On our first ever visit to South Africa (it wont be out last) we spent the first 5 nights in Cape Heritage Hotel and we were really sad when it was time to leave it. We arrived early in the morning, were given a welcome breakfast and before we even finished that, our room was ready to move into which was much appreciated. My partner had had an accident a few weeks before travelling, and we had contemplated cancelling. The staff in the hotel, in their e-mails, convinced us otherwise, and we are so glad they did. They couldnt do enough for us. From once we arrived we were made to feel at home. Although the location and furnishings of this hotel are excellent, it is its staff (and owner) that undoubtedly make it so special. Having a wide selection of restaurants in the courtyard of the hotel was very convenient. After day tours, shopping trips etc, and considering my partners limited mobility, it was so handy just to go out the back door of the hotel and be able to choose from a variety of restaurants. We tried most of them and enjoyed dining in them. Its necessary to book for the African Cafe but we didnt have to for any of the others (grant it it was low season) but check in the hotel beforehand and if a booking is required they will make one for you. Nick, the owner, let us leave some luggage in the hotel while we did a bit of travelling, even though we were not returning to the Cape Heritage Hotel. On picking it up, it was like being greeted by old friends and Nick and his staff came out to see how my partner was doing as he had remained in the taxi minding loads of stuff we had just bought in the market. After Cape Heritage we stayed in a lovely B&B near Port Elizabeth (Chrislin B&B). On the first night there was only one other couple staying there. We were telling them about the fabulous hotel we had stayed in in Cape Town. They said it sounded very like the hotel they had stayed in, and yes they had stayed in Cape Heritage Hotel for 3 nights, having left it the night before we arrived. They too loved it. Considering Cape Heritage has only something like 15 bedrooms, it was a big coincidence to meet some of its other guests

5 star service, more like a high end B&B
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/13/06
This hotel is a gem. The Cape Heritage is a 5 min walk to the Wharf and a 5 min walk from hikes in the mountains. The service is better than any hotel I have stayed at ever and is more akin to a high end B&B with very personall service. From the moment you walk in you are treated like the most important guest in the world by Sam and the other friendly staff. The rooms are each decorated to the T and have 5 star level features. This is the only hotel I will stay at when in Cape Town from here on out. As a business person, FREE WIFI (in all the rooms) is no longer a nice to have, but a requirement for my hotels. Check their website for information on all the great food and nightlife, but the people at this hotel really made it special.

Outstanding!
By SUSAN BALL, 10/2/05
A beautiful small hotel with the most engaging and savviest personal service I have ever experienced. It's away from the touristy harbor area, near a good street market and within walking distance of the museums, interesting shops, etc. Excellent restaurants share a courtyard with the hotel--a welcome convenience after long days exploring the spectacular coast and countryside.

Cape Town's Gem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/05
There is no better place to stay in Cape Town. The owner Nick takes a personal interest in the guests and Sam and Mel take wonderful care of you. My only hesitation in writing this review is that I'm not sure I want too many people to discover this gem. I've stayed there a number of times and always look forward to returning. That it's part of the historic Heritage Square complex is one of the things I love about the place; it's always lively. Try the Savoy Cabbage restaurant in the complex -it's excellent. Or get an authentic African meal at the African Cafe. Close to the City Centre, it is also very near the bars and restaurants of Long Street. Stay in the real Cape Town and really enjoy your stay.
