Comstock Inn & Conference Center, Owosso

We always stay at the Comstock when we come into Owosso from Arizona, being my wife and I are from Owosso and Corunna, it is a great place to stay. We usually know some of the people since we come back every year. Bob Nelson is great at running the place and the staff is excellent. If we have a bump it gets taken care of promptly. I would recommend the Comstock without hesitation. Has a great Restaurant /Bar we like allot.

I stayed at the Comstock on June 18th. I left my camera plugged into the wall socket under the desk and placed the camera on the chair, since the cord was short. I accidentally left it in the room. When I realized my error on Monday I called the hotel. They would not send anyone up to the room to check. I left my name and number and they stated that they would leave a message with housekeeping. I never received a return call. I called back several times within a few weeks and never received a response back. I even asked to file a report. Each time I was told that the manager would call me back. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, entirely due to the fact that I was not treated with enough courtesy to even call me back and allow me to place a report.

This Hotel is definitly a great stay, I loved it and also there was a sweet MMA cage fight going on. Since then the MMA has been back and will be back again on January 8th, 2011. The hotel itself is great and has a very cozy environment. I would stay anytime. Also the hotel staff was above and beyond courteous and friendly. They keep the hotel very clean and safe.

I came to Owosso with my family for the Polar Express train ride. When I first walked into the hotel, I was overwhelmed by the smoke in the lobby. I am currently in my room, but I might as well be in the bar downstairs. Our room was about 50 degrees when we came in. We are now running the heater but it is very hard to control the temperature. It is either too hot or too cold. The bathroom is clean, but the toilet leaks water on the floor. The shower only has a cloth curtain. Rooms are ok, but the elevator and halls are dirty. One perk... I can use the free Internet to write this review.

This hotel is very dated and not particularly clean. And, as others have said, the toilets don't have lids - how cheap is that? I had to ask to be moved at 11 p.m. one night due to noise across the hall - slamming doors over and over again for hours. The front desk was very accomodating once I complained, but the hotel was barely occupied - why did they have to put everyone near each other in the first place? I moved to a hotel in East Lansing - the drive was worth it when comparing the quality of the two hotels.

What a truly bad experience!!! We spent two nights there this weekend and will definitely NOT be back! The beds are hard. There is no wireless internet access. $5.00 per day gets you a cable from the office that you can plug in for dial-up service. No thanks! No lids on the toilets - and a very nasty stain inside. An ice machine down the hall that made such a racket (all on it's own) that it woke us up several times. The air conditioner was so loud that it sounded like a generator running in our room. The "breakfast" consisted of some glazed donuts and a loaf of bread (in the wrapper) sitting on top of the toaster. The lids did not come close to fitting the styrofoam coffee cups...I have no idea why they even have them. The employees clearly have use of the pool. We stayed here because of the indoor pool...shortly after our 8 year old son got in, four big boys arrived and proceeded to hurl a full plastic water bottle like around like a torpedo. After I complained to the front desk about this safety issue, a man (who was clearly an employee) appeared and took the bottle away, but it was evident that he had brought the boys there to swim. Clearly they do this often because quickly they completely took over the entire pool and were very rough. Our poor son was forced to stand in the corner of the pool and finally just got out, very disappointed. It's fine that the employees have use of the pool, but IMO they should be considerate of the paying guests. Cleanliness was fine, but again the nasty stain in the toilet which you were forced to look at due to no lid to close was a real turn off. The decor is very dated. The man at the front desk was nice, and the lobby is pretty. That's about all the good I can say about it. We won't be back and could not recommend the Comstock Inn to anybody.

We were visiting Owosso for a wedding. The staff was very frinedly and accomodating to our needs. Highly Recommened. Thanks for making the wedding more memorable.. Kathleen Marlette, MI

I have stayed at this hotel once a year for the past 5 years and it gets worse everytime. The rooms are over priced, the carpet is bumpy, furniture is old. We stayed in the "presidential suite" thinking we could have guests come in to relax, play cards, etc. It's one big room and one very small room with not enough furniture. There's one small TV in the corner of the big room so everyone had to sit on the floor or bed if they wanted to watch. It had one very small table with two chairs in the small room and that room had no TV. When I inquired about why they called it the Presidential Suite I was told because it was bigger than the other rooms. Big deal, what am I supposed to do with extra space, expecially if there's no furniture to fill it. I visited some of the other rooms that were less expensive and they were smaller with more furniture and some even had jacuzzi's. Where was my Jacuzzi? We asked about a refridgerator and was told it was an additional $10. Shouldn't the "Presidential Suite" have a fridge? How about an ironing board and iron? The female front desk staff was very rude and dismissive. My 12 year old daughter treats people with more respect. The only thing that was good about this place is the housekeeping staff and restaurant staff. The food in the restaurant was okay. My thanks to the male front desk clerk. New guy who at least listened and apologized. Those girls should learn something from him about respecting your customers.

This was a very quiet and comfortable place to stay. Morning breakfast was quite adequate and convenient for the start of the day. Nice atmosphere in a small town setting with some historic qualities.

Wow ! Thats all I have to say. Well not really. I have stayed at the Comstock Inn many many times over the years and I have never had a bad experience. I'm not sure what some of you people are complaining about. You should see it now. They have new carpet in the Atrium area as well as both elevators and hallways leading to the rooms. The staff has always always been kind and friendly and they treat you like family. You know some of you should think about what it takes to run a business and I can guarantee that the Comstock Inn is doing there best to try and make everyone happy. Which is impossible to do. I do want to comment on the review that said the manager tried to offer them a packet of coffee. That is absurd !!!!! I know both managers have spoke to them and I know for a fact that neither would belittle anyone by offering a packet of coffee. Lets get real. I will and always will stay at the Comstock Inn maybe some of you should give it a rest with all the bogus complaints.
