Extended Stay America Tucson-Grant Road, Tucson

I used to live in Tucson not far from here; I try to get back there for about a week a year and have stayed at Extended Stay the last couple of times. It's not a romantic getaway spot, but if you want to *live* in Tucson for a few days or longer it's an excellent choice. The rooms are perfect if you like to read or need to spread out papers for working: plenty of horizontal space and good balanced lighting, plus a comfortable reclining chair. Excellent kitchen facilities in the room. There's a CVS drugstore across the street, a Trader Joe's market in walking distance, and various grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Only negative: no high-speed Internet access (as of 12/04), and modem connections can be spotty--phone lines are probably noisy for data purposes. (Extended Stay is promising high-speed Internet at all locations by March 2005.)
