Description

The Indian Ocean Beach Club is one of Kenyas newest hotels, with all the hallmarks of one of the finest. It is located 25 miles south of Mombasa town and situated in a prime location on a quiet stretch of white sandy beach, bordering a marine park on the Indian Ocean. The Indian Ocean Beach Club is designed in Swahili architecture and is adjacent to history, next to a 16 century Mosque. Once there, check out the century old chandelier given to the Sultan of Zanzibar by British traders for landing rights and move through to the gardens to examine the six hundred year old baobab tree. The pounding of the surf, the background rasps of cicadas, and the rhythmic waft of the ceiling fan, all conspire to make one let go and relax.

LETS HOPE THAT THIS HOTEL IMPROVES.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/08
DEC 2006, Stayed at this Hotel at the end of a month on Safari, from Mount Kenya to Mombasa, arrived in the evening Tired, and went to our room, We had booked a Twin room, but found we had a double, The room was Dirty and the bed sheets had holes in, The Bathroom and Wc had been used and not cleaned,Complained to the Manager, she organised for the room to be cleaned etc, Then found that we had no Hot water and the following day NO water at plus the mini bar Fridge had leaked all over the floor and was full of Mould, The Manager tryed to charge us for drinks from the Mini Bar that we had not had, ( did not use it ) The food was excellent, and the Location very good, with own beach and security 24hrs.Swimming pool rather on the small side, Childrens play and entertainment area which was supervised, Staff in all departments friendly and very helpful, it's the staff that do all the work and make the Hotel what it is, The Hotel is Badley Run by the Management.( but they take all the credit ) A good beach that goes on for miles, but whatch out for the currents and do not swim in the River next to the beach. This Hotel is called a Beach club, but it is not, the recreation facilities are limited and the entertainment very repetortive. and not that good but the Animation Team do their Best to keep every one entertained. The Hortel Was overbooked for New Years Eve, and the Management tryed to get us to go to another Hotel for New Year, some people took up the offer but had to pack up, leave their rooms and did not get the same accommodation when they returuned the next day.in all this Hotel is not any where near up to the standerd advertised, we made the most of it though, but would not reccomend this Hotel, PLENTY OF BETTER Hotels in Diani.

The best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/07
We stayed at the Indian Ocean during our trip to Kenya in October 2006. This was an excellent hotel, the rooms all have a fantastic view fo the beach and the facilites at the hotel are excellent. We enjoyed a well needed relaxing massage at the beach beauty parlour on return from safari and it was fabulous. The staff are excellent and will go well out of their way to make your stay as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. A huge bonus is the private beach in front of the hotel, which means the beach boys cannot approach you while you relax on the beach (they have to stay down along the waters edge so generally they jsut pass through) - others we met on safari staying at a nearby hotel couldn't even walk on the beach let alone sun bathe there!! The food is fantastic and there is something for everyone. We were all inclusive and I was worried as a vegetarian that I would have a limited choice, not so. There was plenty to choose from every evening and the chef even came to check each evening that the food was to my liking or if he wanted me to hae him russle up something else (where else would you get this level of service!). All in all 5 stars from me for this hotel, I would highly recommend it.

Second Visit to Indian Ocean Beach Club
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/1/07
We first visited the Indian Ocean Beach Club 12 years ago and at that time it was a hotel that stood out from the rest. With it being a newish hotel all the furniture and furnishings were new and it was very quiet and upmarket. We have just returned from this hotel and had we not been there previously wouldn't have anything to compare it with. However, it is still a good value hotel which will suit families, couples and older people. Not so much 20's as there is nothing to do at night apart from the in-house entertainment. A good base for safaris as you can book a short safari whilst you are there. The food is very adequate - again if I hadn't been there before I would have said very good. Rooms are now very tired and need a complete refurbishment. Room boys do there best but until they refurbish the rooms do let the hotel down. Location is good - on a sandy beach with coral directly in the sea. Diving and snorkelling is available. Very comfortable sunbeds, mattresses and towels are provided complimentary by the hotel as are parasols. Excellent pool and beach service provided by the pool boys. Rooms have mini-bar which is stocked with softdrinks and beer. Rooms are cleaned every day with change of towels and beds and mosquito nets are put down every afternoon. Good entertainment team with regular keep fit, volleyball, water polo and games and so on. I believe there is also a small nursery and the entertainment team girls were playing with children who appeared to be about 3 or 4 years old. 3 bars, 2 restaurants. Don't bother with All Inclusive unless you are raving alcholics. Bottle of tusker beer is about £1.29 - will fill two glasses. Litre bottle of water the same. I was told the hotel charged an extra £25.00 per person per day for AI. We were on half board so paid for lunch - which worked out at about £4.00 each which included a light lunch and water and beer. Service is excellent - no doubt about that and the restaurant is run like clockwork. They work very hard keeping things going. Security also keep the place safe and the beach safety has improved over the years so you are not troubled too much by the hawkers. 12 years ago you couldn't even go in the sea without being hassled. Good massage and beauty parlour - really cheap - £6.00 for a half hour aromatherapy massage. My one complaint though is that the hotel do bring in musical entertainers for the dining room. However, I do object to being asked to buy CD's whilst I am eating my meal. I think this is one area in which the hotel should intervene and stop this happening. By allowing this to continue the hotel are condoning them doing this. All in all a really nice holiday and I would go back again and recommend it to people.

Romantic private hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/06
Magnificent view from the individual bungalows (each with own private balcony + ocean view). Clean rooms, not so new, but hey you're in Africa. 6-course-dinner with live music. Great animation team (both during day and evening). We stayed at the pool a lot due to the seaweed. Not many options to eat if you don't have all in, 1 small shop. Far from center-town of Mombasa. Intimate hotel, friendly staff, great food. Free introduction lesson diving and windsurfing.

Out of this world..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/05
The IOBC hotel was brilliant. We went to IOBC hotel in sept 05 to get married and of course the honeymoon.. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly the hotel has a fantastic beach and if you can book a seafront room then you wont be disapointed with the view.. For those who are thinking of getting married there, all I can say is DO IT!! the hotel/staff made it a day and a holiday we will never forget.. It was worth every penny and we would go back there again it was out of this world.. Ps. Make sure you book a safari and stay over at the lodge and camp in tsavo east and west national park with Rhino Safari's as we did it just tops the holiday off and gives you some memories you will never forget..

Home from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/05
The Indian Ocean Beach Club is the best hotel i have ever stayed in and i have travelled the world. Not only did i go to the hotel for a holiday i chose the hotel to get married in. It was the most amazing day of my life and it was all down to the hotel and it's staff. The food is the best and you couldn't ask for a better service. All the staff are so polite and friendly they make you feel so at home all of the time. The rooms are lovely and grounds of the hotel are beautiful. There is plenty of activities for both the young and old during the day and nightly entertainment like you've never seen before. All in all i had the time of my life and will never forget this wonderful honeymoon at the IOBC.
