Will not go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/10
We had stayed at this Hyatt a few years ago, and had a good experience, but alot has changed! When we arrived at the motel, we weren't even checked in by a REAL person, we had to do it on a computer! We got to our room, where the plumbing in the bathroom kept banging, and the walls were so paper-thin that we could hear every word the people in the room next to us were saying! There also was a live bug on the shower curtain. When we talked to the front desk about our problems while checking out, they only offered us "free" coffee. We will not stay here again!

Overbooked our ballroom and guest rooms!!
By Michelle Pinkall, 8/20/09
We had a large wedding. They called us 5 days before the wedding date and told us they overbooked our ballroom and were kicking us out! They put us in another room that was too small and a large portion of our wedding had to be placed out in the HALLWAY. Then, 5 of our guests had problems checking in, even though we had verified all reservations the week before and the morning of. One guest was even told to go to another hotel because even though her reservation showed up, the hotel was overbooked. We were totally disappointed. So, beware if you are having a wedding or some other large event.

Could Have Done Better
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/30/09
Upon arrival we were greeted very warmly, had our luggage brought up to our room promptly, given a tour along the way. We had a crib waiting for us and even baby towels and baby wash. It was so nice for them to go the extra mile. However, we were also promised a reserved fridge (booked 6 months in advance and called and confirmed a week in advance). When I checked in I was told it was in my room. It wasn't there, so I called down and they said they would be up immediately with it. An hour and a half later I called back and got the manager who was very rude and told me it was not a confirmed reservation and they are on a first come first serve basis and they were all out due to having to hold some back for people with medical emergencies. The best he could do for me was to take me to Wal-Mart to buy my own cooler!!! Also, why did they never call me back and tell me they were not on their way with the fridge instead of having me wait an hour and half before I had to call them. However, my cousin who was also staying at the hotel, got a fridge, which she didn't request. She checked in 10 minutes before me and her room wasn't ready, so they comped her a fridge! I was shocked since the manager had told me he had to hold them back for people with medical emergencies, not that he had comped them(don't understand why they would comp someone a fridge when they don't have enough for the people who requested them)! I went down and let the front desk know this and they were so nice about it. However the manager was still very rude and would never own up to the lie he was caught in. He also told me on the phone he only had 10 fridges for the hotel, then when I was in front of him he said 20 to 30, but told someone else he only had 8 (so which was it?). He also blamed everyone but himself and would only offer me a free breakfast in return! However, the front desk staff more then made up for it. The rest of the staff was so nice, from housekeeping, to wait staff, to front desk and parking attendants...they seemed to anticipate our needs. Prior to staying there I had read several reviews about paper thin walls, and I also agree. I don't think I slept more then 3 hours a night due to all of the noise. All in all I think the customer service (except for the manager) was phenomenal, it was beautiful hotel, the breakfast was great, and the views were amazing. But every little thing costs you, and the paper thin walls, and the way I was treated by that manager would keep me from staying there again.

Very poor value for the price
By amy, 4/17/09
I recently stayed here for a conference that I was attending. The location of the hotel is outstanding and the decor is beautiful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and I had no problems with them. The rooms in this hotel average $150 a night. For that price, I expected far more amenities than they offer. This hotel courts and caters to business traveler yet charges $10.00 a NIGHT for internet access. In these economic times and today's business world that is absolutely unacceptable. Most of the $60.00 hotels in Wichita offer free wireless internet. The continental breakfast, which consisted of simple fruit and pastries was $11.00 per person. I went into a restaurant to purchase a bowl of fruit and found a small bowl of fruit to be $10.00. The rooms have bottles of water for a mere $3.00 a bottle. The drink machines also charged $3.00 for a bottled drink. While I realize that hotels do raise their prices a bit, that seemed pretty extreme. Parking at the hotel was $8.00 a day. While it was nice to have a parking garage, it was dark and raised a security concern for me - I was a female traveling alone on this trip. In addition, there is only one set of elevators to the guest rooms and they were on the opposite side of the hotel from the parking garage. It made for a very long, inconvenient trip to take luggage to your room. It seemed like there was a charge for everything in this hotel. I found the front desk staff to be extremely slow and there were long waits for everything. I stay in Wichita frequently, but this was my first (and last) stay at the Hyatt. Wichita has several hotels of comparable quality that are far better values. Hyatt advertieses its views of the river but charges ridiculous prices for that convenience. The view was beautiful, but I didn't attend the conference to sit and look at the river. In the future when I go to Wichita I will stay somewhere else and will go to the Riverwalk, which is open to the public, if I want to see the river.

Hotel good, restaurant bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/09
Nice hotel, courteous staff, comfortable bed, clean room. But the restaurant is terrible. Nothing on the menu sounded good but we tried it anyway. Had the roasted chicken (OK but bland); husband had "special," a T-bone steak with butter on top and nothing else on the plate. For $30. And he said it was a bad cut of meat. We went in at 8 on a Saturday night and were the only people eating there. Now we know why. If I was staying more than one night at this hotel, I'd definitely eat someplace else.

Great Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/27/08
Stay-April 26th-27th 2008. Front Desk was well staffed, very helpful and everyone was pleasant. There was no problem changing from a King to a Double. When I called with a request the staff went out of their way to be helpful. Room Service was quick, staff was friendly and waffles were awesome with Starbucks coffee. Two Restaurant/Lounges are open til 2 a.m. on Fri. and Sat.. They have an indoor heated pool, two whirlpools and a Fitness Center with Locker Rooms. Room was clean with pillow top mattresses and four pillows per bed. View was nice. Parking in garage is free if you show them your hotel key or receipt. Will definitely stay at this Hyatt again. Based on this experience we will stay at Hyatt in another City. And, if you join their free Gold Passport Club you get a free night after two stays in 90 days. Early check-in was not a problem.

Could do better
By Mac, 2/15/08
I like the lounge and cigar bar. The parking works okay for me. The brunch is great. The in house starbucks coffee is wonderful. The front desk staff is friendly but not empowered to make decisions. I have yet to get a King smoking room as requested. If I get a smoking room it ends up being a double or if I get a King they can't get me a smoking room. Being a smoker I am used to getting treated as irrelevant in the new hotel world where they can get by with it. I have also experienced billing issues many times that I have stayed here, just little errors but hard to get cleared up. Being a platinum member means nothing here. BTW the pool is awesome.
