We will never go back
By ,
The Entertainment staff was excellent - friendly and talented. However, everyone else was incompetent. We have stayed at Dreams resorts before and always had a great time. There was no beach service. They never had a premium liquor. The bartenders were incredibly slow and rude. Service in the restaurants was very slow and the food was not good with the exception of Portofino.

Truly wonderful and relaxing
By ,
I have been travelling twice a year for the past 16 years and I found this to be one of the best resort I ever stayed at. All the facilities were clean, the room was clean, the staff was very friendly. The staff does not speak much english, but they sure tried to do their best to understand. One of the most wonderful parts of going to an all inclusive resort should be the food. The worst thing for me is when I can never get a reservation at the restaurants I want. However, this resort does not require reservations to any of their wonderful restaurants. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes. We always got to eat at the restaurant of our choice. There was always entertainment. The beach is beautiful. Room service was amazing. It took an hour and 15 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. The ride was a bit rough, but everyone on the bus was in good spirits. We did not leave the resort for shopping. I am not sure if that was an option. So, I don't think that you should expect to do much shopping for anything other than souviniers. There are some boutiques at the resort that I enjoyed. There was one that sold nice purses and island clothing for women. We went on a snorkling trip to Catalina Island for $50.00 per person. It was 5 hours long. We brought our own snacks, but they provided beverages. It was a lot of fun and the view was beautiful. There is an internet cafe that we enjoyed every day at mid-afternoon. We got a cappuccino and a piece of desert and sat on the patio lounge furniture or inside on lovely lounge furniture. We had to use the phone in the room to make calls to Canada. The cost to make a long distance call the Canada was $1.00 per minute. I was thrilled with that rate. I could call the office to check up on things every day without stressing out over the phone bill. DO NOT BUY A PHONE CARD....YOU WILL BE WAISTING YOUR MONEY. Make the calls from your room and pay the bill at the end of the trip....trust me. It was nice to finally go on vacation with minimum hassle. The resort was truly pleasant. I will be going back in the future.

just ok
By ,
nice resort, great swimming pools, nice beach. not enough lounge chairs on the beach. staff needs to learn some english, very hard for them to understand you and vice versa. food was tolerable. service was good but they need to learn some english. maids seem not to have a clue what you were saying except the word HOLA which means hello. Our in room clock didn"t work and and the same for ou coffee pot, asked many times to have them replaced and after a few days the coffee pot got replaced but not thr clock. It was just ok overall cause we were there for the sun and there was plenty. I may go back but it would depend to price. The selection of food was the biggest reason I wouldn't go back.

Goal achieved!
By ,
A couple of weeks before I stayed at Casa del Mar, I decided just to leave the country, by myself, to get away from work. Had never been on a solo vacation, so didn't know what to expect. If lounging around is your thing, this resort definitely has tons of options...the biggest decision I made in 5 days was whether to chill out at a pool, on the beach, or in a hammock! If you're a 'foodie' looking for a gourmet experience every meal, not for you. If you're a spa snob, definitely not for you. I kept reminding myself this vacation was costing me approximately $50/day. Everything was ample, I felt safe. There wasn't a lot of other people there alone, but I didn't really expect there to be. Lots of different languages. Lots of friendly faces. It's the CARIBBEAN -- beautiful weather and water everywhere!

The weather was good.........
By ,
First appearance was nice, clean, staff friendly but most don't understand much english, only the american $$. Food was decent but don't pay extra for room service, they can't understand english & so no one came to our room. Our friends received cold nachos, not much to choose from after 11 p.m. My boyfriend enjoyed the Gruper, (was everywhere), must be the fish of the island. Entertainment was a bit repetative, but tolerable. We did have one problem w/ security. We had a few things missing from our room, my camera, perfume & a travel tealight holder. We were told " the rooms have safes & basically we should have been more careful, they did an investigation which for some unknown reason I was not entitled to a report. They said it was not their policy to give me a report......doesn't sound to me as though there ever was a real investigation done. Thank god the weather was on our side.........

been there twice love it

I liked all of everthing! But i wish there were a place to get snacks like candy, not the gift shop, somewere near the pool and fuseball tables. Yes there is icecream and popcorn but I think candy would be a great idea.

we cant wait to go back :]
By ,
this was probably the best vacation my family and i had. we enjoyed it soo much. we went about 2 years ago for spring break. now that the spa pool is complete and the big "infinity pool" is complete as well, we want to go back for another week or so of sun filled fun. the service was excellent. when we first came into the hotel, we were greeted with fruity drinks and smiles on everyones faces, we knew this was going to be fun. and infact, we had so much fun, we didnt want to leave. the employees there were so nice and they would ask us how we are doing and if we need anything. the room was very comfortable. overall, this deserves 5 stars for everything since we had soo much fun and it was definetly worth the price. have fun :] - l i z a -

you wont want to leave!
By ,
The hotel itself is amazing, the staff are friendly and the views are out of this world! we visited at christmas and the atmosphere was great (as was the weather!) every restaurant offered a different style of menu to suit your preference and it was like eating at a high quality restaurant every night of the week! 2 weeks just wasn't long enough and that's why were coming back this christmas!
