I will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/7/08
I checked in around 5:00 p.m. with some purchases in a Dillard's sack along with my luggage. I left almost immediately to go eat dinner. When I returned to my room, the Dillards sack was empty except for the receipt. It was still on the desk where I left it. After looking through my room several times, I went down to the front desk and asked if anyone had been in my room to clean while I was gone because I had some items missing. (There were some cleaning people in the hallway around 5 when I checked in.) The woman at the front desk immediately began acting nervous and told me to go back to my room, she would look around and see if she could find it in the back room. I went back to my room, and she showed up at the door less than a minute after I got there. She not only had the items I had described from Dillards, but had other items that had been taken out of my luggage. She immediately stated I must have dropped them outside. I had not opened my luggage since arriving, and was not even aware some of the items she had were missing from my luggage. She also requested I give her my keys to the room, and insisted on taking them downstairs to make new ones. I'm not sure what that was about. It took me several minutes to realize what had happened; and that someone had opened and gone through my luggage, taken things,as well as stealing items off the desk. I decided to check out that night, and was not given any sort of apology. In fact, the woman at the front desk would not look at me as I explained that I was leaving and why. I contacted the Baymont Corporate office,(have not heard back yet) and have tried without success to talk with the local manager. I will be also making a report to Better Business Bureau. I'm only sorry I didn't make police report at the time, but since I got my things back, I just wanted to get out as quickly as I could. Also, the smell in the motel was overwhelming, and side door was broken and would not lock, which meant anyone could walk in off the street.
