Big mistake to stay here!
My husband booked this hotel and I read the reviews after he had already paid for it. I decided not to tell him about the reviews and hope they were just a few bad experiences - they weren't. #1. The hotel is listed as Sunrise Inn, but the sign says Sunrise Motel. We drove by it several times before we realized this was it. Unfortunately. We were hoping it wasn't. #2. The man at the front desk from India tells my husband the room for us doesn't have a key and he'll have to let us in. My husband says that's unacceptable. Then the Indian man tells my husband he has a jacuzzi room he can put us in for $25 more (with the implication THAT room has a key). My husband says, no, we paid for a room with a key and we're not paying more. So the guy gives us the jacuzzi room for the same price and then when we're going to the room, he explains he is the key person for all of the rooms. They don't use the computerized keying system, so that man is the only way anyone gets in or out of their rooms. My husband felt he had been duped and he had already accepted the upgraded room.
Now let's talk about the room. The loveseat had huge stains on it, there was sand on the floor in the bathroom, the bathroom ceiling was in need of repair, the "white" towels were 4 different shades of white and weren't matching, plus they were stained. the room smelled very musty, they carpet needed to be vacuumed better and the outlets didn't have outlet plates on them. It is a very old building that is need of some TLC and better cleaning. They are obviously in over their heads financially and don't have what it takes to make this a nice place to stay. I seriously thought about sleeping in the car, or just driving home. The website said no refund or cancellation, since we had checked in too late to cancel. So it would have been money down the drain. We made the best of it and stayed. We work hard for our money and I know we could have stayed comfortably and with better service/standards for the same money somewhere else.
