Swan Hotel, Port Townsend

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and had just come over on the ferry very late at night and found The Swan Hotel it was the last room anywhere in town left. Our room was upstairs very clean and quite, The next morning when we opened the curtins we had a great veiw of the marina and the water. we walked to a quaint cafe for brunch and walk aound down town it was great.

These guys are hounding me that we canceled a reservation hours after it was made. They charged our credit card the credit card company investigated refunded the money that they had taken for a deposit. Now months later they are contacting my office trying to force me into paying for the deposit. The hotel couldn’t have been out any money in that we informed them within 8 hours of making the reservations. What a rip off. I’d never stay with them.

My husband and I had been looking forward to staying at the Swan Hotel, after seeing the lovely internet photos etc. Unfortunately we had to cancel our reservation due to personal reasons. We were surprised to find out that there was a 72 hour 'window' for all cancellations and that, as I was canceling 48 hours before our reservation, we would have to pay the full room charge! We think that their 72 hour cancellation policy is unfair and does not take into account that, due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes 'plans' have to change. We had hoped for some compassion and understanding with regards to our circumstances. It was also frustrating that we couldn't talk with the hotel owners directly and had, instead, to deal with a 'call centre'. We found that the operator was neither sympathetic nor helpful

We stayed in one of the cottages next to the marina. It was clean and neat but small and had no air conditioning. What was really a turn off was the bathroom set up. It was conjoined with the bedroom by means of a small enclave with no ceiling. For $150 a night it did not included many ememities. Parking was ok, but morning traffic was a bit loud because it was on the corner of a main thrufare. The location was good because it was a short walk to the downtown area. When I go back to Port Townsend I will try and reserve a room at the Manressa Castle. $150 rooms were bigger and I think nicer.

This is such a wonderfully warm and inviting environment in which to stay. The rooms are wonderful and you can beat the location! You have beautiful views of the sound. I can't begin to sing the praises of all that is right with this hotel (with cottages). I recommend this highly and can't wait to travel from California to stay there again.
