stayed here for 4 nights in october '07 and was very pleased with hotel.
it's in a great location- near to macy's, empire state. sharing the toilet and shower wasn't a problem- we never had to wait. rooms are exceptionally small but for the amount of time you spend in it it isn't a problem, bathrooms and rooms were clean. lots of places to eat nearby and bryant park makes a great place to sit and eat your breakfast!
if you are on a budget or just don't want to pay alot for your hotel then i would definately recommend this little gem!!!
This hotel has a fantastic location and is very good for travellers on a budget. This hotel allowed us to check in slightly early and to leave our baggage in their baggage room for almost 12 hrs. Could not recommend enough.
I have stayed at the Americana 4 times in the last several years. The Inn is exceptionaly clean. You have to share a bathroom but it was immactulate every time.
Location and Value a priority. This is your place for a NYC trip on a budget. Clean beds and within walking distance to Times Square. I will go back each time I visit NYC.
I had reservaton at AMERICANA INN in New York City (New Year's Eve 2005), but I was not able to stay, because there was no room... Probably my ROOM WAS SOLD TO SOMEBODY ELSE. So I had to find another hotel and pay more...
I reserved 2 rooms 2 months before my stay. I emailed and confirmed my reservations 3 days before my arrival. They told me it would be no problem checking in at 10 pm (my estimated time of arrival). When I arrived at 10 pm on 3/15 I was informed that my rooms had been given away and there was nothing they could do about it. If my friend's sister didn't live on the city my trip might have been ruined. Its not easy to get a room for St. Patrick's day weekend in New York.
I have stayed in Americana Inn from February 24th till March 1st 2006. The hotel is centrally located just a few blocks away from Times Square. So every evening we could search for a good meal around this place without having to take a cab and without feeling unsafe. The hotel is also located near Macy's and the madison square garden with lots of stores. And this for a price of only 380 dollars for 5 nights for 2 persons. The Americana Inn doesn't serve breakfast but this isn't a problem because you have breakfast facilities on every corner of the street and for only 5 dollars you have a good breakfast of eggs and baked potatoes (at the Europa Cafe at Times Square ;) ). The only thing we were doubtful about before arriving at the hotel was the cleanliness. But i have to say that the shared bathrooms were VERY CLEAN. The bathrooms and rooms were cleaned every day. Some people said that they couldn't sleep because of the noise, but it was very quiet in our room. Off course when you're room is located at the street side you can have noise of vehicles.
The only negative point was that our room was very small, but we didn't bother because we were away during the day (because New York is so beautiful and you have to see it all). We came only to the hotel for sleeping and showering so a large room is only luxury that costs a lot of money.
So to conclude: The Americana Inn is a budget-friendly hotel, centrally located, very clean and with friendly people. You have to go there if you don't want to spend to much money on a hotelroom.
Three nights for UNDER $500 in NYC during New Year's. Unbeatable.
The location was amazing. Walking distance from many of the hot spots. Sure you wouldn't want to sleep on the floor or put more than two people in a room. But what do expect?
Always felt safe and that my belongings were secure.
I stayed at Americana Inn for four (or was it five?) nights and it was perfect for me. The room was the size of a closet, but I would only sleep there so its no big deal.
If youre aware of what you have booked, it couldnt be much better (except maybe for a reading lamp by the bed and a hook to hang your jacket on).
I have stayed at this hotel three or four times in the last five years. Its a great location and it is very clean. Some of the rooms are a little small but they are well organized. You have to share the bathrooms but usually they are available without a weight and they are usually very clean. They do have sinks in the rooms so you can always use the sink. The price is remarkable for New York City. I highly recommend this hotel.
The americana inn is a budget hotel. Great if you DON'T mind shared bathrooms. I was in the pet single....quite possibly the smallest hotel room in the world. But at $65 a night on 6th ave and 38th street in Manhaatan, who cares. Very clean hotel, would stay again.
This hotel is located on the Upper West Side, near a mix of stores and restaurants and in the midst
of where real New Yorkers live. Rooms are fairly large and attractively furnished. Considering the modest rates, this is ...
