Fair
By ThosH, 4/13/08
My wife and kids stayed at the Moon Palace in 2006. It was fair, not great. The hotel is starting to get old. My wife it was just fine (quote), but I thought it was only average. I probably wouldn't go back.

Great resort, terrible beach
By btwithtwins, 1/5/10
Everything was gorgeous about the resort except for the beach. They did their best to clean it up each morning (lots of seaweed), but it still doesn't compare to other beaches without that problem. The pool was where we hung out because of the beach....

Resort with some basic issues
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/07
Plus: All inclusive food & drink - covered as a part of price. (may not be a good deal for everyone if you don't drink/ eat much.) Pool area with food and drink around. Kayaking in the beach area. Minus: Room condition. Below average. Take insect repellant - Expect bug bites every day and night of the week - inside the room. Poor ventilation in bathroom. Poor sound insulation - you can hear next door neighbors. Demanding time share sales Location is bit far (not walking distance) from main shopping district.

Can't wait to NOT go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/07
Way too spread out and food was terrible. Actually it was unacceptable. Shower's are marble, but without any slip protectors. Beautiful surroundings, especially the Iguanas... Maid service was very good and room was very clean.

Not very good service at the front office desk. What we paid for and what we got was bad. The food was not very good.

Very Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/04
We honeymooned here and could not have been more disappointed. The bartenders were downright rude, the food was not good and the timeshare coercion was not appreciated. The air outside was permeated with the smells of the sewage processing plant 24 hours a day. The beach was atrocious, not swimming water by any means. The pool was large and the room was decent, but they did not by any means make up for the negatives. My advice is to book a hotel in Cancun proper where the water is a beautiful blue and swimmable.

Never Again
By Travis, 6/24/10
Worst vacation ever.. Hotel staff could care less about helping out or even making our group feel wanted. All issues where met by a 'it's not my problem' attitude. Food was mediocre at best. Wasted a full day trying to get accomadations squared away. Just a very unpleasant experience will never visit another Palace Resort Hotel again

Quantity Over Quality
By Ali Puckett, 1/21/07
I have stayed at the Moon Palace twice, and I have been disappointed both times. Service: Check-in/Check-out is a NIGHTMARE. The lines are long. It takes forever. The staff is rude. My room was not ready on time. As for wait staff, it's hard to catch a waitress in the lounge. When you do catch one, they are rude rude rude and they barely understood was I was saying. (The restaurant service was better). Location: If you like to golf, and you want to stay at the hotel the entire time, the Moon Palace might work for you. But the hotel itself is located so far away from any kind of shopping or local entertainment. If you stay there... plan on STAYING there. Also, the resort is just too big (which makes it inefficient in so many ways). It was a 10 minute hike just to get from the lobby to my room! When it really hot (or you've had a few) -- trust me, that is NO fun. Beware!! Rooms: Dirty, small, run-down, and loud. My room severely need a paint job. The jacuzzi was old and crummy looking. There wasn't a lot of room to move around. I could hear EVERYONE that passed by the room. Also, there was some lovely construction going on while I was there (why do construction during PEAK SEASON?), and it was so loud during the day, there was no point in being in the room. They recently put flat screen tv's in every room. This seems like a waste of money. Who's watching TV in Cancun? They should have put that money into hiring/training some staff. Atmosphere: The lobby area is beautiful. Seems like all of the guests were dressed up at night. Personally, the last thing I want to do on vacation is dress up. In general, the place seemed really big, glassy, and impersonal. Food: Lots to choose from. Everything is homemade (even the ice cream). The juice is fresh squeezed. Very good. Entertainment: Seemed a bit gimicky. Marachis doing personal seranades at the dinner table? I'd prefer to eat my steak without a 4 piece band in my face, thanks... Spa: I didn't visit the spa, but I did hear good things about it from other visitors. Conculsion: Really, if you don't like golf -- don't go to this resort. Spend your money at a smaller hotel where the staff treats you well and makes you feel valued. For my buck, I'd rather have quality of quantity.

Good place BUT Do not buy a Timeshare
By We R Screwed, 6/13/09
Bought timeshare there a few yrs ago. Went back the following yr for our "free" week.. Wanted to return the next year and found that it was CHEAPER to go as a non member than being a "owner" with the so called only pay for all inclusive fees for owners. When went as a non owner, then was harrassed to go to timeshare sales meetings etc. Told them I was a Owner but it was cheaper for me to not book as owner, they got upset. WELL now that I tried to re book and compare fees of owners rates against non owners, I find that they took my money for the timeshare and deleted me out of their owners list. They show no record of me being a owner. Now having to send copies of contract etc. (which I'm sure they will not ever say they received) Now contacting legal advice from mexico which may be just as crooked. Maybe I should hire the Mex drug cartel!! DO NOT BUY TAKE THEM FOR THEIR FREEBIES AND LEAVE YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY

Be Careful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/10
Every person who has stayed here has encountered some kind of beach problem beause of the tides and seaweed rotting on the beach. We had read several really bad reviews about this resort but went anyway. We have stayed at several other Palace resorts and they were amazing. The drinks are weak and so is the service unless you bring plenty of cash. Security is very below average so if you have children or an attractive wife, keep them within arms reach. We had items taken from our room and so did numerous other guests. The golf is fantastic and the weather was great. If you cant get enough of your local Old Country Buffet then the food will be fine. The rooms are very good size and very clean. The disco was fun but the clubs downtown are much better and safer. Keep all your cash and valubles with you at all times. I would suggest the Beach Palace or another resort on the main strip. Please be careful if you do decide to go.
