Falsely Accused of Stealing Bed Runners!

My husband , 3 kids and I stayed one night at this hotel. Shortly after checkout we received a message on our cell phone accusing us of taking the bed runners from the room. The hotel stated that they charged my AmEx for the items. We called back immediatley and said that we had NOT taken them. We had a rollaway in the room, had asked for 4 extra blankets and extra pillows. We told them that we were sure they were likely accidentally folded into the bedding. They refused to credit our card! I asked the manager for the phone # to corporate office and the non-emergency phone number to the local police department so they could help sort out the situation and the manager refused to give me the information and instead hung up on me! I did contact corporate offices and they offered me a $50.00 gift card to come stay again. I was sickened by this! I will NEVER stay again! I want an apology from them for accusing us in the first place! I want the manager to be properly trained so this does NOT happen to any other customer. My husband and I did call the local Sheriff's department and they opened a case. I will NOT allow anyone to accuse us of theft! The manager of this location has obviously dug himself such a big hole now and will never admit that the runners wre found. SHAME on him! Please do NOT stay at this hotel!
