Room not as advertised - I would be happy to receive a partial refund from Yahoo.
So let me start by saying this review does reflect a difficult situation: It turned out that the one night I wanted to stay in Sydney was the one night that the Australian soccer team, the Socceroos was playing in Sydney for their 1st chance in 30 years to enter the world cup. Needless to say, when I tried to book a room a few days in advance I found out that Sydney was almost full. However the Central Railway Motel had a room available, and I was happy to have a place to lay my head.
The rooms are advertised as:
"All rooms feature balconies, en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, fans, TV's, clock radios, coffeemakers, and kitchenettes with microwave and refrigerators".
I booked a "deluxe room" that could accommodate up to three people.
When I arrived, the motel had my reservation from Yahoo, however, the only room that they offered was a small room with one double bed, a shared bathroom (shared with one other room), and no balcony. As I was traveling with a 4 yr old child I did not really relish the thought of a shared bathroom never mind the fact they Id prepaid US $110 for a room with a bathroom. They initially offered to also sell me the 2nd room that shared the bathroom for AUD 60. I declined. In the end I was given the keys to the 2nd room at no extra charge, thus turning the shared bathroom into a private bathroom. However the rooms did not have a balcony.
Other points to note:
- The rooms are small but clean.
- This is a 3 or 4 story building. There are no elevators and the stairwells are somewhat narrow. It took me 3 trips up and down the stairs to move my luggage into the room
In spite on my complaints I must say the gentleman at the front desk was very understanding and helpful.
