10 reviews for Turtle Beach Resort, Siesta Key
What an incredible disappointment!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/08
We were shocked at the condition of the "Resort". It's so old & run down & totally overpriced. For the money, we could have stayed in a first rate hotel right on the beach.

What I wish I knew
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/08
After viewing the website and seeing wonderful reviews, I expected paradise. Unfortunately, my husband and I were disappointed. It wasn't bad, but it was not worth the money we spent. We stayed in the Bahama Breeze. There were good things about the resort. The furniture was nice. I really liked the leather couch, beautiful headboards on the beds, and the dining table. The location was great too. It was close to Turtle Beach and right on the bay. However, right in front of our deck and view of the bay were dirty chairs and a swing covered in bird droppings, a broken hammock, and old pool parts. Also the pool was being renovated and the sound of construction took away from our experience. Our private hot tub kept breaking too. It looked old. We told the woman in the office about it twice. She got it fixed temporarily, only for it to stop working again. Eventually we gave up. I wish we had not stayed at the Turtle Beach Resort. The website is misleading. It was so expensive we could have stayed somewhere nicer for the price. I am sure it was nice at one point, but it seems that the owners have let it go. What a disappointment this was!

We can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/07/07
We stayed in the Sunset Suite and it was beautiful! The most relaxing vacation we've ever had! We rented a 19 ft. boat across the street at the marina and that was the best prices we've seen in a long time for an awesome day cruising in the bay. For a birdwatcher like myself, this was perfect and David and Gail gave us great ideas for places to see. Ophelia's is a great resteraunt too! our only critique would be that the bikes and water bikes were not in great shape, but we will return...maybe yearly!

Honeymoon of my dreams!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in August. What a fantastic, relaxing experience. We stayed in a cottage overlooking the bay and spent alot of time in our own hot tub which belonged to our individual cottage. They let you use kayaks, and these bikes that go on the water, etc. This resort is just beautiful! Romantic for our first week as man and wife, we plan to come back for anniversaries!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here! The room was private and beautiful, the location was wonderful, and Turtle Beach is the greatest beach we've ever visited. We definitely hope to be back sometime in the near future.

Absolutely Perfect...
By Ryan, 08/27/06
We went to Siesta Key on our honeymoon to see the beautiful beaches and to have a romantic and relaxing time. We found The Inn at Turtle Beach online and decided to stay there. While we had high expectations for this place, we had no idea our expectations would not only be met, but far exceeded. From the moment we arrived we received personal service from one of the owners (David). He greeted us, showed us our room and even took us on a private tour of the island! Thanks David, you really made us feel welcome. The other owner, Gail, was extremely helpful and friendly as well. Our room was absolutely beautiful. It was perfect, not a single thing wrong with it. The private hot tub was a nice addition and worked wonderfully. The Inn offered privacy, seclusion, and opportunities to intimately experience the island. We took their canoes out to a private beach, rode their bikes down to the village, and used their fishing gear to fish right off of the dock all for free! It was great. Our stay there truly made our honeymoon memorable, romantic, and the best vacation we had ever taken. We're already planning our return! Thanks David and Gail for such an amazing time.

Absolutely fantastic!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/06
Ignore the other negative reviews people have given, Turtle Beach Resort is well worth the trip! The amenities were wonderful, the room was clean and the view was fantastic. The water toys (canoes, paddleboats, fishing poles, pool toys) were all available and in great condition. Everything was perfect and made you feel right at home. The staff was friendly and welcoming and made sure all of our expectations were met. The furnishings inside our cottage were wonderful. The couch, chairs and beds were so comfortable we never wanted to get out, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The pictures on the walls, fake flowers, seashells and books made the cottage warm and cozy. The privacy you receive here can't be beat either. There's nobody knocking on your door or getting in your way. You’re free to walk out on the dock, go canoeing, go for a swim, fire up the grill, take a relaxing dip in your private hot tub, or just lounge around your cottage without anyone getting in your way. It’s truly the perfect place to be. The only thing to be aware of is the fact that it depends upon who your neighbors are as to how peaceful it can be. The people in the cottage next to us were a group of foreigners who were very loud all day, which made for our “peaceful” days to be tainted. However, if you have well-mannered, quiet neighbors you'll be fine. Also, be aware that there is a $62 charge for each pet you bring, and unlike what is stated on their website, there isn’t a private beach for you to let your pet run free. You must canoe or paddle out to the "beach," but even then, this beach was hidden under 2 inches of water. You can go a few minutes down the road to beautiful Turtle Beach, but pets are prohibited there, so it doesn't make it worth while. I suggest if you have a pet, you think about having someone at home watch him/her because there won't be much for your pet to do here. We brought our pug along and the poor thing had to stay in the cottage while we went out because there was truly nowhere for her to go and play. We had to have her leashed at all times, and being that the cottages are close together and there were always people outside, it made it difficult for her to enjoy herself. We wound up having to take her across the street to use the bathroom each day, as well. Outside of those aspects, the entire trip was fantastic. The view each morning is phenominal and you truly have the privacy to do whatever you'd like without having people stomping around or interfering with your private time. Quite frankly, I’m surprised at all of the negative reviews people have given, but remember – it depends upon the person as to how true a review is. Perhaps for someone expecting 5-star service and amenities, this isn’t the place to be; but for a down-to-earth couple or family wanting a nice vacation outside of the fast-paced lifestyle, this is the place to be, without a doubt. I highly recommend Turtle Beach Resort to anyone. It may be expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Privacy, relaxation, beautiful views, an amazing beach just minutes down the road, and a place to escape the craziness of the world. My husband and I cannot wait to return. Turtle Beach Resort will forever be our home away from home.

Dirty Turtle Beach Resort
By Kerri, 07/11/06
We were so excited to show up at the resort. The website showed a beautiful place! When we got there we soon changed our mind. We were not shown where our room was, and had to find the Jasmine cottage ourselves. We were not welcomed instead the only thing that was said to us was what our balance was. Very rude. When I walked into the cottage to put the food away I saw the kitchen. It was very dirty (finger prints all over the glasses, a brown/black sponge to use to wash the dishes, bugs, a drying rack that was filthy, etc). Bring your own cleaning supplies. The refrigerator was not cold and ended up putting the food in our coolers so it would not spoil. The beach was CROWDED on the off season and far away. The puppy islands did not really exist which was one thing we were excited to take the dogs to. The jacuzzi did not work the first night, and THE RULES... You will be charged if you leave a mark on the sheets or the bathrobes (isn't that what clorox is for??)along with MANY other ridiculous rules many having to do with the ammenities (don't let your child tie up the fishing lines or you will be charged!). We felt like children! The maintence man sat on our porch talking on the phone many times, and the pool which looks large in the picture is VERY SMALL. For the money we were VERY disappointed. On a positive note....they gave us many towels, and Ophielia's, the restaurant which is nor affiliated with the resort, was excellent! Good luck if you choose to go. Hopefully you will have a better experience than we did!

Not worth it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/06
We just got back from spending 2 nights here. Yes, the room was OK and the hot tub was new and nice. However, they didn't even clean our room between the days we were visiting. The Bikes that they advertise were not often there and when they were looked like they were from 1980. We choose to eat at Ophelia's as they advertised with the discount also. At the restaurant you will hae a SPECIAL menu and plan on being treated like a 2nd rate customer. This place is just not worth it I as sorry to say. My husband booked 1 night at the Don Cesar in St. Pete and I booked 2 nights here. We pricelined the Don Cesar for $125 a night and it was so much nicer.
