Best Campground Ever!
By Sahwn, 7/30/12
Old Barn is the best campground ever and everything is soo perfect! The Old Barn is like a home to me because everyone is always so nice! But once in awhile the service can be bad because everybody is always there trying to go golfing so its always packed but mostly on the weekends! And the owners go around to everybody and tells each campsite if there is a storm coming so then they are prepared. And it's cheap there! Also everything is sp perfect all familys are hapy and they have a amazing bike trail you can take to Lanesboro and Fountaine and also Preston.

Neglected
By Lori, 7/12/12
We liked the fact that this place is on the root river bike trail, and we could have golfed if we wanted to. We were so excited to come here. Unfortunately when we got here we did not feel very welcomed, nor did anyone bother to tell us specifically where to go. There were no markers to the rows so we guessed wrong, since the sign said to driving range, and had to turn the big rig around. The bathrooms were disgusting, and you had to pay to stand in the spider ridden pay showers. Mine didn't drain.. So I had to straddle the drain so I wasn't standing in other peoples clumps of hair floating around. Hornets nests were everywhere. We did ask to have one taken down, which they a day and a half later. The food at the restraraunt was mediocre. The place felt pretty unsupervised, and they even had signs in the bathrooms warning you to not leave your coolers out as the teenagers would steal your beer. I forgot to mention that the eagles flying overhead the entire week were spectacular. I see some people reviewing were offended by the pay showers, which I was at first too, but at least it helps save on water running with nobody in the showers. It would have been nice for them to be clean since it was in addition to the 150 bucks it cost us to stay there for three nights. Overall, I guess we would come back, but unless your a seasonal guest, bring your own shade.

iffy at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/11
Old Barn Resort is a very picturesque setting. The campground itself seemed pretty clean and maintained. The grassy areas were exceptionally plus. However, there is a quite a bit of golfers in and out of the area, most of whom seem to be somewhat intoxicated, which doesn't add to the pleasant family feel. The pay showers were just a bit much for me, with as much as you pay to camp for one night, I would think that they could throw in a free shower. The showers also were pretty mediocre at best, dingy curtains hanging in each stall with only one curtain to block the "dressing area", which means either shower and then dress with your buddy, or stay in the shower until they are done. One more curtain to divide the two shouldn't be much to ask. Now, here is the kicker...... apparently someone vandalized the golf course the first night we were there, poked holes in the green, knocked over a port-a-potty, and pooped, yes pooped on the green. When we returned the next day from our outings, we were approached by a pretty accusatory staff member who said the tracks led straight to our campsite, accusing our children of this.....not a good thing to say to this mother. I assured him that our kids, would NEVER do anything like this and were with us the entire night and in bed by 9pm. I understand the frustration of something like this happening especially on his watch, but was extremely put off by the accusing manner of three young kids, who couldn't tip over a port-a-potty if they tried.....very irritated by the accusations, perhaps check with one of the drunken golfers that were there could you please!!?!

Don't Stay Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/18/11
We camped here this past weekend and won't be back. Neglected is the best word to describe this place. Showers and bathrooms really needed some maintenance. The toilet handles were broke but there were signs all over about how you MUST flush or there will be problems. The paths to the bike paths were awful and the roads around the campground were NOT maintained. They had room to spread the campers out but they piled them in the same area. Pay showers are ridiculous. The excuse being they have to pay the utilities. The pool is NOT heated and indoors so it is very chilly.

Don't Recommend It
By Conley, 7/27/09
While the resort is beautiful place to stay (views of bluffs, kid's pool etc.) the prices are hight and customer service is really lacking. They are sold out most of the summer and apparently therefore feel that they do not need to try very hard. This place charges additional for more that 2 people staying per site (my cousin w/3 kids paid $60 per night to share a camper next the the stinky restrooms!) A bundle of "firewood" or kindling cost $4.50, you have to pay to shower and they have a strict check out time- not very relaxing. They have staff that patrol the grounds all day to make sure that everyone has wristbands and they are very vocal about their many rules. All around, not a very relaxing family weekend. I would not recommend it if you do not want to feel "nickeled and dimed" and want a relaxing weekend.

Great location but facilities disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/08
We tent camped here with our 2 year old son and parents over the 4th and were quite disappointed. The pool was nice but a little chilly, not heated. The playground equipment was missing parts and really not useable, which was disappointing for my son. Our campsite was located on a hill with no flat spot to pitch our tent so our tent and picnic tables were sitting at a 45 degree angle. Thankful it didn't rain. Bathrooms...disappointed that when you pay to take a shower the bathrooms wouldn't be more clean (about .25/7 minutes and you can't control the temperature of the water). The first night the water temperature was a little too warm for me and my son and the second night it was cold. Also, no soap at the sinks. Dumpsters extremely smelly. Would be nice if they would have recycling bins. It seemed that some rules were not enforced, quiet time and fireworks. Glad my son can sleep through noise. Also the wood we purchased there was wet (about $4.50 a bundle). Location is nice though. About 5 miles to bike to Lanesboro. Had a picnic lunch at the park in town and let our son play on the playground there, which was very nice.

Very welcoming environment.
By thomas, 4/27/06
All facilties very close and convient. Family oriented with both biking, pool, golf and so much more. The resort is a little far from town but still has the small/hometown feel.
