Hilton Garden Inn Evanston, Evanston

When we arrived we were given a key to someone elses room with bed unmade and wine glasses poured. When we let the front desk know they laughed it off as a busy day with no apology whatsoever. Great location but not worth the money for the lack of service. Hope that they can get their acts together since many parents stay here for NU students.

Well, it is indeed a very good price considering the location: in downtown Evanston, just across from the new Century Theater, one step to everything you might want for shopping, eating, seeing. (it is about 10 minutes walk to the park at the lake). So, if you are using the room at Hilton only as a place to sleep, it is OK. Otherwise... we stayed in December, the heating system brought some really bad smells in the room, there are no windows you can open - not a pleasant experience. Overall- it was not what we expected to be.

If you are looking for a nice place near Northwestern University, this is it. New and clean. It is not full service, but you don't pay for it either. And the staff does a great job. We arrived late, loaded a cart, were wheeling it in, and some items fell off. The manager ran over and offered to take the cart to our room. I offered a tip and he refused it. The room was new, clean, and had refrig and microwave. Only things I would change would be the $11 a day parking next door, although that's a deal in Chicago, and I would add a weight machine and/or dumbells to the exercise room. All and all, this is a great, pretty reasonable place. And, the breakfast buffet is excellent!
