Party Central
Wow, what a stay this was! We arrived on a Friday night to discover that the hotel was inundated with fraternity members. Fortunately Friday night was somewhat quiet although several times these guys were playing music loud, hanging out in the parking lot, standing in the doorway of their rooms, etc. Saturday was a nightmare. People hanging outside on the walkways, throwing food wrappers on the floor, playing their car stereos very loudly, racing up and down the roads. Basically loitering in the parking lot. We complained but the girl at the front desk said "Well, they're fraternity members." Finally at 6:00 we had enough. I went downstairs to checkout because of the loud noise was continuing. I was told by the desk clerk she would not be able to refund our money for the Saturday stay. I said fine I would just call the manager on Monday.
Monday comes and I call the manager who is very nice and states she will call his corporate supervisor to see what can be done. She gets my address, credit card number, and a fax number so she can fax me the paper showing I have been reimbursed. Thirty minutes later she calls me back saying corporate will not let her do so. Basically stating they had no control over the situation and that it is a college town. I've stayed in Hattiesburg a lot of times and never had this problems. And as far as not having control, well they certainly did not have control. No one was doing a thing to make the fraternity members be quiet and act orderly. She goes on to tell me the cops came out six times. This apparently occurred after we left. If cops have to show up at a premise six times there is a serious control problem. Being an attorney, I know full well that a business owner is responsible for their guests. The local manager tells me she can give me a discount the next time I stay there; as if that will ever happen again. She also gives me the name of her supervisor.
I talk to the supervisor who confirms the cops were called several times but it is not their policy to give refunds because of noise! I was offered 50% my next stay however. Geez!
Oh, they also do not clean the rooms on a daily basis only if you stay an extended amount. Also there is a limit on towels. You can get more, but you have to bring your dirty towels to the front desk while wearing a hula hop and a tutu. Gimme a Break! Worst customer service ever!
