Sofitel Moorea Ia Ora Beach Resort, Moorea

My wife and I visited this resort for our honeymoon back in May. We had the WORST experience which ruined our honeymoon. First of all, we stayed in a garden bungalow and the HOT water broke. We called 3-4 times to complain about it, and every night around the same time, we would be taking cold showers. The 3rd night we were finally moved to a new room BUT the room had twin beds.... They even made the bed like twin beds. I have proof! To top it all off, the HOT WATER BROKE AGAIN! We were sick and tired of complaining and figured we would do it when we got back to the states. Were we WRONG, the hotel said that since we did not complain about our experience while we were there, they would not honor our complaint. How horrible is that? We feel as if our honeymoon was ruined by this horrible experience. Another issue, a BIG issue is the flies. Flies were all over the buffet and over our food. I felt like we were battling the flies while eating. They would not stop coming and they were flying all over the buffet. I would recommend that if you were considering staying here, please do not. you will be disappointed with the service. Our honeymoon was completely ruined because of this. Please stay at the Sheraton or Le Meridian, you will definitely be happier somewhere else.

after being pampered in Bora Bora my husband and I came to Moorea....this actually wanted a deposit to use their pool towels and you had to return them by evening or lose your deposit, that was quite an insane rule, of course we said no. The hotel bar was not very friendly...at one point my husband and I stood there and waited while the two bartenders finished their conversation as if we were not there, the drinks were watered down. We waited forever to get washclothes for our bungalow. Lets see what else...the beach was not at all like Bora Bora, the Ia Ora's beach was rocky...full of sharp coral the beach chairs needed repair. It seemed that everything shut down by 8pm. I went to the check in desk one evening around 9pm to inquire about getting some ice and a Sprite, I was told would have to wait til the morning.....he did not even offer to get the ice or anything...thank goodness that was the last night we were to be there. Overall, we were very dissapointed. Next time we will just stick with the island of Bora Bora.

We have been going to the Sofitel Ia Ora Moorea since 1987 ... absolutely beautiful ... quiet beaches ... ALL Rooms within view of the fine beach, so the garden bungalows are Great Deals. Friendly employees, good food ... The postcard you see is what you go there for. Close to access to the main road for ventures onto the isle. The bungalows and setting differ from all the other big resorts in that there's no concrete building, no concrete complex, ... the white beach sits back from the reef so you can venture onto the calm waters. At night, off in the distance, you can see the twinkling lights of Papeete, Tahiti; in the day, Tahiti in the distance is awesome.

This was the most relaxing and serene place to vacation. Beautiful weather, good service, and the view and water was magnificent. Its not everyday you can swim with exotic fish and sharks.

Stayed there in December 2003 Beach bungalow was good fun, very close to lagoon. Excellent snorkelling from the beach. Staff very friendly. Restaurant was very good too. Participating in evening entertainment was great too. Would love to return to this tropical paradise. Have since been to the Maldives. This is not in their league, but has a charm all of its own.

The garden room did not have air, and no screens on widows, did not feel safe with nothing on windows at ground level. My wife is a travel agent and they still would do nothing to make our stay more enjoyable. Bora Bora was great. The garden room at best was a 2 out of 10.
