Total lack of customer service

Despite having a confirmed reservation, the desk attendant apologized that they although our reservation was in the system that they didn't have any room for us. That was it. No explanation other than Nashville was "busy" with multiple events. No arrangements for another hotel. No offer to help compensate for the inconvenience.
As a member of the Marriott Rewards program, I complained. It didn't do much good. It took over a week to receive a full response from the hotel manager and all I was offered was another "sorry" and 3,000 points (a free night at the hotel requires 10,000). Apparently, customer satisfaction and service mean little here.
