\"Do Not Stay Here! Rude Staff!\"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/07
My wife and I arrived at the hotel jet lagged and tired. We were immediately greeted by a fake and cheery manager. The regular day manager is an overall slimy individual. Instead of showing us to our room, we were given a 10 minute interview. In hind sight I suspect that he was trying to gauge which room to pass off on us. After being showed to our room I noticed that it did not include the terrace area which I had reserved and paid for. I explained the error to the manager and was taken back at how quickly his demeanor changed. The manager snipped back at me and said I had to take it up with Expedia. He then of course offered to give me a room with a terrace for an extra charge. When I told him that I had printed out my booking through Expedia which showed the terrace was included he snapped back at me to go get my paper. Once again I was told to take it up with expedia. Frustrated and sleep deprived, my wife and I returned to our assigned room, changed clothes, and took a walk for some fresh air. We returned that night eager to try the jacuzzi. I filled the tub with hot water and pressed the 'on' button but nothing happened. My jet stream jacuzzi was nothing more than an overrated, over used, bath tub with the side panel falling off. I called the front desk to report the problem. The person who answered sounded annoyed that I had bothered him at all. He sighed and told me that he would call the engineer. The engineer seemed to solve the issue very quickly. About 5 minutes after he left the jacuzzi stopped working again. After this I tried to avoid all contact with the staff. I got chills up my spine every time I had to pass the day manager on my way out in the morning. We had made reservations at the hotel's restraunt and decided to cancel the next morning. I travel ALOT and I am sorry to say that this was the worst hotel staff that I have EVER associated with. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome to stay at another hotel. You are paying 5 star rates for a 3 star hotel at best. The Sofitel is just around the corner and is cheaper friendlier and nicer.
