Stayed Before, Will Stay Again.

We enjoy staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Westford, MA w/ only a couple of negatives. They are: The fans in both bathrooms (we had a upgrade to 2 bdr)were so loud that we thought of getting earplugs. My husband took his showers w/out lights on because of the terrible fan noise. The other item was the price of the entire time we stayed was deducted from my checking account (debit card). My brother and adult son stayed w/ us and were paying a portion of the lodging. We registered on 5/19 and by 5/20 there was a hold on the full amount from my checking account. We left 5/24. On 5/22 my brother was leaving so paid his 3rd. We weren't aware of the debit to our account until my card was denied at the grocery store on 5/23. When I went to the lobby to ask what happened, I was told that w/ a debit card a hold is always put on the account. I told the lady that I travel 3-4 times a year and was in Anchorage at the Sheraton and the only thing they did until I checked out was have my card number and was told nothing would be charge to my account until I checked out. The lady at the Resident Inn Said "that is not the way we do things". My feeling is if that is the case then there should be something either verbal or in writing telling the person that. She was argumentative and not pleasant. I went back to my room and called my bank and they restored the amount back to my account. Later when my son went down to get clean sheets he over heard a woman talking to what sounded like her boss on the phone relating the same situation I had had, so my son figured it must have been the same woman.
Information should have been given and it wasn't. Our trip for our daughters College graduation could have ended badly if not for our Bank.
