Riu Playacar All-Inclusive Resort, Playa del Carmen Centro

The Riu playacar was absolutely GREAT! I went with my family and when we arrived we were very pleased with our welcoming. While we were checking in we were given cold drinks that were great and the lady who helped us was very nice. When we got to our rooms we were surprised because the rooms looked even better than the picture even though it was the same rooms we viewed online (the standard room)! The rooms were very cool with a fan and air conditioning; which was great because outside there was hot beautiful weather (we went from July 5 to July 13), a comfortable bed and a TV with all kinds of channels including a few in English with popular shows. The mini bar in the room was very nice filled with soda and beer. After settling in we went to lunch, which was a buffet and ate GREAT food. So excited to continue on with the day we went to the beach, which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!! Clear water, nice smooth waves, and lots of beach chairs. After swimming a little we took some of the best naps of our lives on beach! The pool was great and I loved the swim-up bar and pool activities (don’t worry for you who are not too thrilled about all the pool activity and music, there is another pool which is usually almost empty and quite). The staff, but especially the entertainment staff, is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!! Nice, hard working, and are glade to be doing their job. The evening performances were so good and funny that I was sad when they ended and couldn’t wait for the next nights show. One day we went of the resort to see the Myan ruins which was easy to get too because tour buses are just across the street with great drivers and many people on the bus. Also if you cross the street there is a market everyday and a few small stores. The staff is so talented and speak so many languages, yet knowing a few fraises like please, thanks, hi, and bye in Spanish might help you for the few people who speak only Spanish. But trust me you will not have to worry about communicating. The jet skiing at the beach was very fun but you have to pay some money. We never got to parcel but I hear it was great. May I suggest that your bring a deck of cards because it is a really fun activity to do during times when you don’t know what to do, like after dinner at the theater before the show, when everything is closed. Opps I forgot to mention the all inclusive part is great because you can eat whenever you want with unlimited great food. When our stay was over I was so sad and couldn’t stop looking behind me as we drove from the resort to the airport. In other words I had the best vacation ever and want to go back!

The Riu Playacar is an amazing resort if you are looking for great service; excellent food; clean rooms; and above all, ENTERTAINMENT. Their entertainment crew are the BEST. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wishes to experience true Mexican hospitality! We'll be back for sure.

A+, The service at this resort was outstanding, above and beyond! Would definately make a trip back. This truly is a resort where all of your needs are met.

We had such a good time that we came back and told others about it. Now next year the rest of our family is going and some of our friends. We have a total of 14 people ready to go for next year, we can hardly wait.

This hotel is not worth staying at. Upon our arrival, our door keys did not work and it took the staff forever to fix them. When they did fix the locks, the door knob fell off. Just the fact they have metal keys is pathetic, considering that even cheap motor lodges in the states have key cards. There were only 2 ala carte restaurants, seafood, which was good, and steak, in which my steak was full of gristle. There was also a buffet restaurant which had fairly good food, except the steak again had lots of gristle and fat in it. The hotel property is small, and regardless of what travel agents tell you, you DO NOT have access to the restaurants on the other RIU properties. The pool area was pathertic as well, as there was no poolside entertainment and a very tiny pool bar where you could never get a seat. The beach was nice, but watch our for those nasty black crow-like birds that fly around there. One swooped down at my head and scratched my head with its talons, which did not feel very good considering my scalp was sunburned. I will never stay at this hotel again and I strongly recommend to anyone reading this to stay somewhere else if you are traveling to Playa del Carman.

VERY HARD BEDS. BAD LINENS. DAMP/DIRTY FLOORS - MAID DID NOT LOCK DOOR ONE DAY WHILE WE WERE OUT ALL DAY ON A TRIP. FOOD IN RESTURANTS WAS BAD. THE BUFFET WAS OK - NOT GREAT. THE ENTERTAINMENT WORKED VERY HARD. FRONT DESK STAFF WAS FRIENDLY.

There are no negatives. Zero. I would go back to RIU Playacar to live if they'd let me. I cannot say enough about the Entertainment Staff. They make sure that you don't spend the entire day laying on your ass. And the keep you up at night too. The food was great and the service was even better. I did get a little sick one day, but unlike most people who have complained about it being the resort's fault, I am man enough to admit it was my own. Ladies and gentlemen, over indulgance CAN be a bit of a problem ;). Mezcal should not be taken lightly. Like I said. I would go back in an instant. Thanks for making my wedding/honeymoon a dream come true RIU.

This is a wonderful Allinclusive place to go in Playa DelCarmen..My wife and I have been there 3 times..twice together and once with our Kids...Foood is a 10, People are a 15...So friendly, helpful..and being on the beach is where to be..The Ocean breezes are wonderful at nights..The shows are fun for the whole family....If your even wondering where to go..Any of the Riu resorts....

loved the Location Good entertainment Good Service my room key did not work half of the time i did not care for the sea food dinner but, the steak one was good the drinks were great the shop was a little expensive pool bar was a great touch but needed more places to sit

The trip was enjoyable, staff very freindly ,hard working peaple.The highlight of our trip was the beach. We would love to go back to the RIU hotels.
