We have been travelling to Santiago Chile at least once a year for the last 8 years. We have stayed at the hotel Neruda several times, as its location is great. However, this time, our experience was awful. Upon arrival they gave us a room fit for only one person when the confirmation was for a double room for 2 people. The aircondition did not work, front desk employees were not helpful at all, breakfast a disaster, we had to set our own table, they did not have clean table covers, so they would just turn them upside down, buffet breakfast was poor, friends who tried to reach us complained that they did not answer the phone. The hotel used to have doormen, not any more only one bellboy which means you need to wait and wait for your luggage to be brought to the room. Rooms are large but need a little more cleaning. The drapes has so much dust like they had not been cleaned for a couple of years. Unfortunately, November is a high occupancy month so we had no choice but to stay there for the 4 nights we had it booked. We are already looking where we will stay next year as we are not coming back the the hotel Neruda
Rooms are large, comfortable, and well-maintained. Breakfast is buffet-style and very ample. The hotel is well-located in Providencia, close to the Metro system, in a very modern, clean, safe part of town (walking distance to Cerro Cristobal, a great park). The only drawback for us is that the most interesting part of town is the central business district (where most of the museums and historical sites are). Offsetting this is the ease of getting almost anywhere in Santiago via the safe and clean Metro system.
I loved this place. I had lived in chile for a while and knew the area well, so when my sister vacationed there I wanted to find the best place. It is right off a major metro stop and on the corner of two big strees (11 de septiembre and Perdo de Valdivia). There are buses and taxis at all hours because of its amazing location. The nightlife is great with restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs all within walking distance. But if you want to do some sightseeing downtown, you are a ten minute drive away(or better yet a metro ride). Also this area is really safe. So when my sister got back and told me how great the hotel was, I booked it for myself on my next trip. It did not disappoint. I had a large room, great view of providencia, and a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was incredible. They will serve you your hot beverage and you have a great selection of breads jams, cereals fruits...but my favorite was the juice section. Atleast 5 different fresh exotic juices. Delicious. the staff was also very attentive offering all kinds of services including the spa next door.
overall it was a great experience especially since I got an incredible deal of $60 a night.
