Sams Town Hotel And Casino, Shreveport

I stayed there 2 nights during the week and on my 2nd night after a long evening of gambling and retiring to my room around 5:30 a.m, I got woke up at 7:15 a.m. by what seemed to be a distress alarm of the "EARLY" alert system stating they were doing a test thru their loud speakers that are in each and every room. EARLY TO ME AT THIS TIME IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT AFTER A LONG EVENING OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS FUN AT THE MOMENT.. VERY, VERY ALARMING after just going to sleep. For 15 minutes, you would hear the same messages being repeated over and over until they found it to be a false alarm and that the system is going to be reset and the Casino was going back to normal operation. Just when you would think the message is done and the attempt to go back to sleep, here came the frightening siren noise and the same messages. Thanks SAM'S TOWN for scaring the bejeebees out of me and awaking me when I needed to get sleep to drive 4 hours West when I planned on at least 5-6 hours of sleep to get me home - all for a false alarm. Just thanks be to my superior being for getting me back home safely and not falling asleep at the wheel.

I am a slot player, Sams Town has very poor pay out go to Boomtowm instead. The beds are nice and firm but I go to win not to sleep. The staff is always texting on phones are talking to each other making customers wait. Food average at Smokey Joes. Buffet line is very long and slow.

Our room was large. Beds were firm; bathroom was luxurious with a vanity available. Many amenities. Great rate - would stay again. Staff was friendly. Only problem we had was the service at Smokey Joe's restaurant in the morning was not that great.

I love to stay there, but I usually have to go gamble somewheres else because I never win anything on the slot machines there. I'd be happy just winning and losing so that I can at least play longer. But that's not the case. Diamond Jacks and Horsehoe have been lucky for me. As long as I can at least come home with some of my money, I'm Okay.

The service was, to put it mildy, terrible,,long wait in restaraunt after ordering, wait staff seem to be busy chatting about personal business, Hotel rooms were clean, but the casino was dirty, smelly and the carpets looked as if they have not been cleaned in several years. Dirty ashtrays sat on the table and cocktail service was slow. Location is in downtown area where I saw several people standing around just looking, thank God I valet parked. Value not bad for what it is worth.

We were driving into Shreveport in the evening looking for a good price at a casino hotel. We called Sam's Town and asked for a price for 2 non-smoking rooms. We were quoted $70 each. Got to Sam's Town, parked, unloaded our suitcases and went to register. We were then told rooms were $157.00. When we explained we had just called and were quoted $70, the hateful lady at the desk acted like we were crooked liars. She fumbled around with her computer for about 5 minutes and then said they had no non-smoking rooms and the smoking rooms would still be $157. This place has the rudest employees of any casino in Shreveport and their casino is so smokey your eyes will water. I'll never step foot in that sorry place again. On the other hand, Diamond Jacks across the river had rooms twice as nice (as well as the employees) for $79.00.

We called and booked a smoking suite with a pull-out couch and roll-away bed. The person on the phone at the hotel said that was no problem. However, when we checked in, the clerk said we could not have a roll-away in there due to fire regulations. When we got to the room, there were no ashtrays. I called down to the desk and was told it was a non-smoking room. We asked to be transferred to a smoking room none were available, so the clerk said we could smoke in there. We had to call down twice to request ashtrays, once to request bedding and more pillows for the fold-out sofa, and once for enough glasses and towels for three of us. Besides that, one of the telephones in the room didn't work, and there was a big stain on the desk chair. On the good side, we had a beautiful view.

Have stayed at Sam's several times, as well as several other casinos in Shreveport/Bossier City. For a regular hotel room, Sam's is the best in terms of size of room, size of bathroom, and amenities. Rooms have tv in top of large cabinet that also has refrigerator on bottom on one side, and large drawers on the other side. Large desk with chair, computer capabilities somehwere, just can't remember where since we don't have one (gotta get us a laptop...), large round table to use for eating if desired, 2 comfortable armchairs. Beds are clean and comfortable; we always get a handicapped-accessible room (hubby in wheelchair), and apparently they only do 2 queen beds for those, no 1 king bed. WC fits fine between the beds, but there's not a whole lot of extra room there. Bathroom is very large, with safety bars around toilet and in shower. There is a large vanity/sink area with coffeemaker, and then a separate "makeup" vanity. We've had both tubs and roll-in showers here. The one thing they don't seem to have, though, is some kind of bath bench. So hubby has not been able to take showers. (Most people don't travel with bath benches: most are large and they're not "fold-up-able"...) We've stayed in other hotels that had seats that folded down from the wall on hinges over a tub... wish Sam's would install a few of those! We've always had good service here. Have ordered room service several times and it arrived fairly promptly. Found it was not that much more than going downstairs to the restaurant, after adding tip and tax. We've also gotten breakfast items at a little deli-type counter: most of the time, they've had good food, but a tad expensive. Like the casino okay--it's in my top 2 in Shreveport. Have won a bit and lost a bit more... typical for casinos, but it's fun. The slots areas need more workers, though. Sometimes hard to get help when a machine isn't working right. If you get brave and try some table games and are new to them, most of the time the dealers are very patient and quite helpful with the rules. I'm not very good at following up on how to get "comps", but I know they do them (what casino doesn't?). We have gotten very good room rates most of the time, and that's what I like, so I'm happy...

THIS PLACE RECKS YOUR CAR WHEN YOU VALET IT AND DOES NOT PAY FOR THERE MISTAKE. NEVER STAY HERE THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE, THEY WRECK YOUR CAR AND DO NOT TAKE CARE OF THER EMPLOYEES MISTAKES. I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN

the room was ver nice and roomy, big bathroom, nice view, good entertainment even on a sunday night the had a good band playing at entrance to casino, it was awesome, i will surely be back. indoor pool was closed though i guess for renovations or cleaning
