We will definetly stay there again!
By Haley, 01/24/09
We stayed at this Microtel during the recent Inauguration. It is about an hour from the metro and very affordable ($64.99 per night and during the Inauguration!!) It is right off the interstate and is very accesible to food and bigbox stores. Our room had a kitchenette including a microwave and refrigerator and was very clean. The staff was nice and helpful. Overall my experience was very good and we plan to stay there again when we go back to Washington D.C. this summer. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay and would definetly reccomend this hotel to other D.C. travelers that cannot afford the expensive hotels in the city.

Never Again
By Donna M, 09/06/05
The proprietors were absolutley the worst I have ever seen or experienced. I stayed at Microtel as part of a group of persons in town for a funeral. My first poor experience was when I asked to be moved to a higher floor since I was a woman traveling alone and the lock on the door didn't work properly. I also did not feel comfortable being at the very end of the building on the bottom floor and there was a large window facing a large wooded, open space. The female manager kept telling me there were no other rooms, the older male manager proceeded to take me to the room and tried to convince me that the lock was "okay" and that I could close the window and put the lock on it. I went back to the desk ready to check out when the younger manager said, "Just put her on the 2nd floor." (so much for no more rooms. I felt as though I was a stray from a herd of cattle.)About an hour later I approached the front desk to ask for an iron and the older male manager said to me, "Now what is the problem?" I thought the customer was always right! Whenever I have had a problem with a room at other hotels (which has been extremely rare and usually due to noisy neighbors), the usual response that I have gotten when I asked to be moved was, "Certainly, just a minute and we'll see what we can find for you." Never again will I stay at this hotel. Never again will I stay at any Microtel. If this is what they allow at their front desk, they have no consideration for their clients. There is no way they do not know how rude these people are. I have never felt so unwelcome at a hotel in all my life and I have stayed at hotels all around the world. Others in my party were treated rudely also. I thought it was just me until we were all talking the next afternoon and realized that there had been similar instances of being treated rudely and inhospitably. In addition, the room was not clean. There were blond hairs on the chair and I am a brunette. The towels and washcloths had spots on them and I felt very uncomfortable.

A bit disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/04
We stayed at the Microtel Inn in Hagerstown on October 18th and 19th, 2004. On several previous visits our non-smoking queen suites have been very pleasant clean, comfortable rooms with friendly service. However, the evening of the 19th we were plagued with a strong and persistent pipe smoke odor in the bathroom and outer area of the suite which was very unpleasant. Only one other room on this end of the 3rd floor was smoking and the rooms immediately below were also non-smoking. We brought this to the attention of both the night clerk at the time and also to the day clerk when we checked out. Our understanding from these conversations is that when the allocated smoking rooms are full the hotel will permit smoking in non-smoking rooms on the 3rd floor - a good thing to know for the future.
