Never Again!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
My sister & I had the worst ever experience with the travelodge ever. I tried to get my money back through expedia because the rooms were filthy, we tried 4 different rooms. Not being able to get my money back because of booking w/3rd party, we had no choice to either stay or go back home. The showers are stained, dirty, moldy shower curtains, sheets bedding are not cleaned, rooms smell, carpets not cleaned, coffe pots not cleaned. Very dirty...the whole place had a an cooking oil smell to it. The beds were horrible the cheapest I guess they could find. Will never stay there again, I will pay extra to stay at a nice clean place, it is worth every penny. Do not try and save money and stay at this Travelodge in Sturbridge, MA...Cheap, Cheap...and believe me dirty. We were not the only customers complaining, others were trying to get their rooms changed while we were there because they are very dirty. So never Again!!!! We will return back each Fall to Sturbridge, but not at the Travelodge in Sturbridge.

FRIGHT NIGHT!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/08
My wife and I made reservations at the Quality Inn Conference Center in Sturbridge, MA. To our amazement when you came upon the entrance of the hotel.... you had to go through a TRUCK STOP! We found ourselfs driving further up this long dark road until we finally came upon the hotel. Very dark, no lighting, hard to find entrance of hotel. We finally took a chance to get out of our vehicle in the dark lighting (with the truckers sitting down below)and went inside of the hotel. When we approaced the desk, there was no one in sight. "THE SHINING" After announcing for 5minutes or so if anyone was around, finally a female body came out of nowhere and ask what we wanted. Well needless to say that was the final straw. Truckers, dark lighting and most of all to be asked what we presumed the front desk clerk to be asked what did we want. The front desk clerk had looked like she was in some sort of wrestling match (who knows what was going on behind the back)and very rude. We told her that we had reservations, but decided not to stay because it was an uncomfortable area to stay. The clerk replied back to us and said, well isn't that to bad. If you leave you'll be charged anyway and there is nothing you can do about it. My wife and I both looked at each other and were both appauled by the clerks nasty comment and her sloppy appearance as well. We said that is fine. We'll take it up with our credit card company. The clerk stood there and just laughed at us and said go right ahead, you're still getting charged and i'll make sure of it too. We've contacted Choice Hotels to report this property and will be taking further actions. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE NOT TO BOOK OR STAY AT THE QUALITY INN CONFERENCE CENTER ON RTE 15 STURBRIDGE, MA. IF YOU WANT TO GO TO A FRIGHT NIGHT, THIS WOULD BE THE PLACE!

Oh My God!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/07
My husband, myself and our two children visited this hotel in July of 2007. We chose this because it was right near Jellystone Park campground where my sister was camping. Not being the camping type we chose a hotel but upon checking in I had wished we were camping the front desk staff was extremely rude the girl would rather be chatting on her phone then do her job. We had an issue with smoking/non-smoking room and she called over the hotel's owner who was not a help at all he to was rude. When we finally got our room we found the cleaning lady hadn't gotten to it yet she saw us entering and immediatly stepped up and cleaned it out very nicely when we asked her for directions and resturaunt suggestions she was very kind and helpful (She should be doing front desk!) After getting settled I opened the window only to not be able to close it I called to the front desk and the girl told me she didn't know how to fix windows it wasn't until we saw the housekeeper again we told her and she came right in and fixed it. The second day my son was very sick and it was rainy out so we decided to stay in and watch the HBO movies provided but wouldn't you know the HBO didn't work and again front desk wasn't helpful. The housekeeper (different than the day before) came to clean our room and we told her about our son she was completely inconsiderate and re-fused to clean our room! Luckily for us there were two housekeepers one being Emily who had taken care of us the day before Thank God she came and cleaned our room and was very kind to our sick son well cleaning! unfortunatly that was the last day we saw her and the rest of our stay was just horrendious our room was messy and breakfast was gross! big thumbs down to Quality Inn (and two thumbs up to our nice housekeeper!)

First Time We Have Ever Checked Out Early
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/07
We rented this room through Orbitz for an overnight stay on the way to Maine . We were most enticed by the pictures and the "heated pool". Once we got to Sturbridge on Rt 20, we were unable to locate the place. After calling for directions, we found that it was at the end of a 3 mile road, past a campsite, near the intersection of Rt 90 and Rt 84 (where you could hear the traffic), and directly behind a huge parking lot full of 18 wheelers! Yes sir/ma'am, this here was next to a truck stop. The first bad indicator to my wife and I should have been the sign in the parking lot reading "Not responsible for theft or damage to vehicle." We checked in, and went to the "heated pool". First off, the pool was outside, and shaded by the back of the building. The "Whirlpool" was a 1 foot deep kiddie pool that had no circulation, and had algae growing in it. OK in for a dip - how's the water, kids? Ffffffrrreeeezing! Headted? Not so much. We asked the young desk clerk about that - she told us "The pool does have a heater, but the owner doesn't turn it on - it's too warm out." After a quick immersion, we went back to the room. Although the entire third floor (where we were located) was supposed to be smoke free, we couldn't tell that from the smell. The room was tiny, mostly taken up buy the two queen beds, which were stiff as boards. The bathroom was smallish as well. The desk, as described in the other review, was small and cluttered with articles. High speed wireless was supposed to be available, but we didn't check it out. By the time we went out to dinner, my wife was reacting allergically to the smell or something from the room, so we checked out. I write this from a much more comfortable and spacious Hampton Inn room closer in to Sturbridge proper. The Hampton cost $20 more, but was WELL worth it. Do yourself a favor - unless you are a long haul trucker, don't bother staying at the "Quality Inn and Conference Center". Nothing "Quality" about it. We'll be writing to both Orbitz and to the chain management, and it won't be a pretty letter. T. and M. Stevenson Montclair VA

We will definitely return!
By lal, 07/26/06
Lovely, secluded location although a little difficult to find. Set way back from the road in a wooded setting. Very pleasant, efficient front desk personnel made the atmosphere friendly and inviting. The rates were very reasonable. We stayed in a very roomy semi-suite with two queen beds separated by a wet bar with microwave, refrigerator, cabinet storage and counter. The room and bathroom were very clean with everything in its place. Sheets are a personal thing to me. Nothing annoys me more than having to remake a bed when the housekeeper tucks the top sheet over the bottom and they all come out when you turn down the bed. This hotel has fitted sheets! There was an unusual and comfortable window seat under the double window. The rooms have wireless access with excellent strength. Somewhat limited television channels but there were four HBO channels. Two of the restaurants mentioned in reviews, the Fieldstone Grille and the Sturbridge Isle Diner, are closed but there are several fine restaurants within five minutes travel. Unfortunately no hot cookies in the lobby. The continental breakfast was served from 6:00 to 10:00 in a very pleasant, clean dining area. It had hot and cold cereal, fruit, the usual muffins, breads and bagels, and a make-it-yourself waffle machine. Terrible coffee. About five miles south of Sturbridge Village and a minute away from Interstate 84.

Living in a cracker box
By Brad L, 06/25/06
Rooms are very small. My room has a queen size bed. You have about 2 feet from either side of the bed to the wall! The "desk" is also where your mini-coffee pot, ice bucket, cups, and miscellaneous hotel literature is placed. Therefore, there's no room to use it as a desk. The high speed internet is wireless. When it works, it works great. On check-in, it was down and wasn't working until the next evening. Their service has passwords that change every 2 days, so if you're staying for a while you need to keep up on it. They advertise laundry services and stuff on their web site. Well....that's at the truck stop down the road. (That's according to their own hotel info packet in the room!) Oh yeah, and that truck stop has two washers and 4 dryers at $1.75 each. I've stayed at a Super 8 with more room, cheaper rates, and better amenities!
